Is Grand Seiko hit or miss

I absolutley love grand seiko’s dials. One of the best if not my absolute favorite out of all the watch makers.

However, I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but I cannot stand the steel bracelets, something feels off about them, they seem poorly made or feels not as luxurious as other brands.

Thoughts?

Do you buy the leather from somewhere else? Or are there leather options?

·

There are leather options for certain models (like my skyflake)- that said Delugs makes EXCEPTIONAL leather bands

·

While I do have bracelets from cheap to luxury and can see and feel the difference, I’ve never thought or felt a bracelet bother me that bad to the point where it sucks to wear like some of you do 🤔

·

I’m the rare one who doesn’t mind GS bracelets. I’ve never felt the need to swap out on my GMT. Fits well, has some heft and the brushing has a nice luster.

My regular Seikos though live on mostly uncle seiko bracelets and fkm straps.

·

I used to hate bracelets no matter what. But I decided to give the bracelet another shot and found the perfect fit on my white birch. Haven’t switched it out for the delugs strap I bought for it since.

I love wearing watches on the bracelet but for my GS it’s the only exception. Once I finalize on which strap to get, the bracelet is going into a box for the foreseeable future 🤣

·

I disagree once you have one you see the attention to detail on all levels. The steel bracelet I actually prefer over others, but a leather band does allow for the polishing and dial to pop. I never understood them until I did

·

The issue I have with GS as well as many high quality watches is I don't own a loupe.

·

What never made me think about owning a GS it's their hands, don't like them al all.

·

I have a GS Sport GMT and I don’t mind the bracelet. It doesn’t have on the fly adjustment that seems to be the big deal these days but I managed without that function for 45 years so it is something I can live without. The bracelet is comfortable, beautifuly brushed and polished and fits the lugs like they are made from the same piece of steel. They are not the best in the industry but their dials and movements arguably are, which is where you can see the most $$$ are invested. A better bracelet, to match the R brand would add $$$ to the cost of the watch. GS have hit the value balance on the head IMHO!

·

I dislike metal bracelets in general. My other problem with Grand Seiko is how thick they are, but that's just me being fussy, I suppose.

·

I've never owned a GS but this is new for me, I thought that they make a very top notch detailed work

·

I own GS on Steel bracelet.. absolutely nothing wrong with the quality..

·

I would match the bracelets on my GS watches against any of the ones that do not draw criticism. So many individuals that I have met recently mock the fit and finish but admit they have never owned a GS watch saying the bracelets are significant impediments.

·

You only have problem with Steel Bracelets right? Try Titanium brotha! Snowflake, Shunbun & Taisetsu are some of my grail watches.

·
SUSFU303

Have three and all three are home runs. One came on leather, one on a titanium bracelet and one on a steel bracelet. All fit and wear fine…and look fantastic.

That Snowflake looks crispy in the picture. Did you try biting it?🤣

·

I have never had a problem with Seiko bracelets. Can’t understand why there will be one with Grand Seiko’s.

·

Some of them are like the cherry on top for an already experienced /intermediate collection , some of them are a miss.

But I like that they are adventurous

·

Imperfect? Yes. Desired? Of course.

·

I must the minority on this. I think the bracelet on the one GS I have is fantastic. Polished and smooth. Hugs the wrist. Easy to adjust.

·

I find the bracelet reasonably build and comfortable actually. I don't quite understand what is all the complaint about bracelet.

But as most had commented, GS do look better on leather strap

My thought exactly.

·

I like a lot the bracelet on my GS, so smooth to the touch, it feels great. However, no microadjust. Just 2 holes of microadjust in the clasp would make it the perfect bracelet.

·

I don’t see any problems with them… cuz you know why?

I loooooooove me some Grand Seiko!!!

🔥🔥🔥

·

The bracelets are adequate. There is no hiding the fact that other brands do a better job. However, GS watches are so beautiful I don’t give it a second thought.

·

Sigh, another thread grousing about the Grand Seiko bracelet. No, it's not as good as Rolex (I'm taking everyone else's word for it, since I don't own a Rolex). Yes, it's perfect serviceable, attractive, and comfortable. Yes, you can get a good fit.

Which leads to my now standard PSA whenever this comes up: They give you two half links for a reason. The half links are really more like 2/3 links, so by mixing and matching half links and full links, you can adjust by 1/3 increments, or about 3mm. If the bracelet is too loose, you take out a half link and it's too tight, and conclude that it won't fit and the bracelet sucks, you're doing it wrong. Take out a full link, put in a half link, and now it fits you like a glove.

·

I guess the bands are not to par with the watch itself I’ve seen them on leather they look great I’ve been shopping for a nice green leather band for my hulk just haven’t found the right one yet

·

Both my GS are on leather strap.

·

GS was blessed with Seiko bracelets hopeing noone notices. Dials to die for though.

·

When you get them sized correctly you're barely going to notice the bracelet. Granted they may not be as luxurious looking at something at the same price, but that rarely bothers me. Staps/bracelets are an afterthought for me if the aesthetic and comfort issued are sorted.
