Inadvertently ended up with a "collection"

Very happy with the current range, as well as how I've been able to sort them in my case. Will need to take a break for a while.

Although the next Seiko is sure to happen at some point this year! ๐Ÿ˜…

Excellent box!๐Ÿป

nice collection field watch theme ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

ยท

And one to be proud of as well!ย

ยท

great and fun selection of watches and colors!

ยท

I would (and I have looked at that brand) but currently out of my budget.

Good looking collection. Presage next?

Good looking collection. Presage next?

Was actually thinking Prospex next, specifically one of the Alpinists. Haven't seen a Presage that's quite caught my eye yet.

One of things that I like about this website is that I get to peer into the collections of complete strangers and contrast them to my own. Out tastes could not be more different, but I appreciate the care that you have taken to find quality pieces in your price range and to your liking.

If you have ten watches ten years from now it would be interesting to see what changes, and what doesn't. ย Will you still be as indifferent to "dress" watches? ย Will you find a Rolex, Omega, or Grand Seiko that takes the place of four other watches? (Based on the above picture I don't predict that you will somehow be transformed into a Cartier fanboy.)

ยท

Nice lineup and very practical. Now the big question: get another box, start the one-in-one-out approach, or just preside over that collection?

Probably one in one out approach. As I said in my original post, am thinking about another Seiko (likely an Alpinist). My case has space in a bottom draw. But taking it slow for now.

Another box would be excessive, and lead me to getting even more!๐Ÿคฃ

Nice collection!

NIce lineup! How do you like the Seiko 5s?ย

NIce lineup! How do you like the Seiko 5s?ย

The SNK8 was my first mechanical watch and first Seiko and continues to serve me well after 4 years.

The new generation of Seiko 5's offer some variety. For me it's great that blue dials are on offer. Whilst I would have liked sapphire to be offered, hardlex is better than normal mineral glass.ย

The 4R36 movement is an improvement but does vary. The one in my SRPG is very accurate +/- max 5 seconds. Whereas in my SRPD is +10 when off the wrist.ย

Still too early to tell with the SRPE.

That's mine kind of collection. Try the Citizen on a leather strap to take it to the next level.

That does look good! I do have a spare leather strap from my Timex that will fit the Citizen, I'll try that out at some point in the week.

ยท

Great collection! All your straps are on point.

ยท

Nice collection-- but happy with the current range? You're just getting started!๐Ÿ˜‰ There's so much more out there!

ยท

Since posting I've changed the straps on the three modern Seiko 5's. Turns out the leather strap from the SRPG is perfect for the SRPE (fit and style) and the NATO that came with the SRPE which I wasn't planning on using is for me a surprisingly good fit for the SRPG. I've never worn a NATO before and was pleasantly surprised. So much so I got a new one for my SRPD! I was worried they would add too much thickness, especially considering how the SRPD is kinda thick already. Turns out it elevates it in a way that makes it wear better.

Looks good! Enjoy!

if you like field you will love the Casio MTPS120L, but i looks like youโ€™re set on field watches ๐Ÿ˜‚

Really nice affordable collection. Don't know why but the citizen stands out to me as the one I want.

It is a really solid dependable watch. I often wear it if I'm cycling to work. Plus the solar charging seems really efficient on this compared to the Timex.

me too - 600 timex and counting https://instagram.com/timetrope

Love to see affordable watches get the love and admiration they deserve. ย This is why I feel watchcrunch is the best watch community on the internet - we all love watches no matter the price there is value at every price point. ย Fantastic collection, enjoy & wear them in good healthย

I like the theme of your collection. I'm currently contemplating between the three watches that happen to be among them, the Timex Expedition North Post, Citizen bm8180 and Seiko SRPJ85 (36mm version of yours). I really dig the look and solar aspect of the Timex but I have heard complaints about the movement and lume. Which one would you recommend as I see you have owned all three for quite some time.

Those are three excellent watches to choose from!

With the Timex, whilst I agree about the lume (it's basically non-existent) the movement is great, extremely accurate (+/- 1 second a month)! The only "issue" I have had with it is that it takes longer to charge than Eco-Drive or Tough Solar. It's my only solar watch that I have found needing a recharge in the winter.

I'm wearing the Timex today, but have been wearing the Citizen for most of the past week. Currently solar quartz is more practical whilst I work at home this month.

The Seiko would also be great, a 36mm of the Seiko 5 I have sounds like a perfect size. I still like mine because it has a unique mix of blue and gold with the bead blasted finish. Plus it was a gift so it's going nowhere.

Just be aware that the 4R36 movement is a lucky dip. I have two watches with this movement. The SRPG is between -3 to +5 and my SRPE is -2 to -10. I also (not pictured) have an NH35 (technically the same but without a day) and that is +10 seconds.

Appreciate your detailed reply man. It was really insightful. Looks like Timex checks almost all my boxes, but man, if only it has the lume of Seiko or Citizen. :)

You're welcome! I would add that the lume on the Citizen BM8180 also isn't that good, although it is still much better than the Timex, all the numerals have a nice (albeit weak) blue glow.
