Experience using domestic eBay to buy watches from Japan?

Hello, I'm trying to find the best place to purchase a Casio LCW-M100TSE but it is very difficult to find in the UK (Amazon does have it but for a stupidly high markup).

Most listings on eBay UK are based in Japan. They have good ratings but I was wondering if anyone here had experience buying from Japan through their "normal" eBay? Thanks!

You should be fine as they are also covered by the buyer protection policy.  Buy the seller and look at feedback and you should be good to go.

Thanks! Just got a reply from one of the sellers who I messaged yesterday. Going to rewatch some reviews of the watch before I click "buy".

I’ve bought numerous watches from Japan off  U.K. eBay….. mostly out of desperation as it’s the only country you could get the watch I wanted.

I have several observations

sellers in Japan always seem to overprice their watches and use stock photos as opposed to the actual item

sellers in Japan rarely have 100% feedback

some sellers advertise exactly the same watch as another seller, I think they collaborate and the same sellers have multiple identities

you will always pay customs charges and import duties, virtually  everything from Japan gets stopped and scrutinised

unfortunately us U.K. collectors are stuffed if you collect Seiko, Orient, Casio or Citizen JDM models

I'll update with how I get on. Apparently the seller is going to put a lower value for less tax? But I am preparing myself for customs. But this would still be far less than what it is on Amazon UK and not much more than it would have been new about a couple of years ago when you could get it here.

I did find a German seller for a similar price but unsurprisingly they don't want to ship to the UK.

Brexit has ruined purchases from Germany France and Spain for sure

once the Vat is added.

and some of the main courriers charge import duty and a £12 handling charge, a complete rip off.

I tend to use Watchnation in the U.K. and Iguanasell who are Spanish based.

The watch arrived on Monday (planning to do a proper post about it soon). Didn't pay any customs or fees! And shipping was very quick!
