Citizen Promaster Automatic, a recommended watch?

A friend of mine is thinking of buying his first automatic watch. He has fallen in love with the Citizen Promaster Kermit dial.

I´ve tried one before and I think It´s a fantastic opcion. Do you guys think is a good starter watch for less than 200€?

Want to know your thoughts!

I think that it's a great option if he likes it.

Citizen makes great watches, and don't get enough love in the watch community because of a bias toward Seiko.

·

Heck yes. Affordable, just as stupid rugged as Seiko SKXs and their always on a discount somewhere. What's not to like?

·

Great watch from a great manufacturer, can't go wrong with it as a fist watch.

·

I have an eco drive version and absolutely love it. It’s durable and solid.

Which is odd considering how many people comment about Seikos poor qc especially on divers. I've never owned Seiko divers but owned a couple of citizen quartz promasters and I never found any issues. Rock solid build too.

A solid first choice! Can't go wrong with it...

·

Yup!

·

It's an amazing watch! Better than SKX in my opinion.

It's a great option for an automatic Diver's watch that is ISO compliant. I have an Eco-Drive Promaster Diver's watch. It is hard to beat an actual ISO compliant Diver's watch for less than $200. I believe it uses a Miyota 8215 series movement or its Citizen analog, so the rotor will be somewhat louder than an equivalent Seiko movement, but it is a solid movement that has been around for a while.

Seiko became a community favourite back then microbrands were less well developed, and you could buy a SKX for a used stick of Juicy Fruit, and a wad of dryer lint....

Time moved on, the SKX got stupidly expensive, but the notion the Seiko is the best Japanese brand lingers.

Great choice! It's easily become one of my favourite watches.

Definitely hell yeah yes! If you got the right wrist size love diver watches and don't mind paying for what it worth.

·

Seems like a solid choice !! What could go wrong 😉😉😉

Highly recommend. I own three variations of the NY0040. Black, blue and full lume dials. Here is my full lume.

I haven’t tried one on but from the reviews I have seen online! now that’s a beater bang for your money watch with a brand who has amazing history
