What brand is the most "cool" to you?

Doesn't need to be the best or the most expensive, but just has that cool factor. To me Longines and Hamilton take the crown, unpretentious, good quality and look amazing.

Cool brand, in the same vein as Rado. Great watches good price no bs

·

Unpopular answer: Tag, and in particular 70s - 80s Heuer / Tag Heuer.

monaco, silverstone, autavia, 1000, pasedena, kentucky, Leonidas easy rider, airline, calculator, pilot, senator. Take your pick.

I don't like modern Tag Heuer but back in the day they were outstanding 👌 I'd buy a vintage one for sure

Vostok Amphibia and  Elliot Brown.

I used to be a DJ, in the rave scene for a decade, big hip-hop fan. G-Shock is the only cool brand.

·

Brands like Kurono, who make beautiful watches, and don't seem to care much about the rest.

100% agree on Oris. I have two (Aquis Carysfort and TT1 Engine Date). Also own a Longines Hydroconquest and I think that's pretty cool (Sounding like WatchGeek there). I also have a Certina DS8 and I have to say the build quality and finishing is brilliant. One for an "Underrated Watch Brands" discussion topic maybe? Could do "Overrated Watch Brands" too.... I'm new here so pretty sure they'll already have been done.

·

I'm biased, but Sinn. Tim Mosso once said something along the lines of Sinn being the brand he could wear anywhere, but in particular the big press events like in Switzerland or Dubai, etc as a kind of neutral cool watch that didn't offend any of the big brand players that he'd have to sit down and talk with - thereby avoiding the awkwardness of say, wearing a Patek to a meeting with Rolex - but again, not giving up an inch of cool factor at the same time. It doesn't hurt that he's been rocking an EZM 1 for years but, yeah, strapping on on now as I leave the house for the day ...

·

Modern:  Junghans.  Maybe it's just recency bias.  I hate half of what they do, but love the other half. (Also, the little guys like Vario, Brew, Ming, etc. Every brand with one cool idea.)

Vintage:  Bulova.  What other companies came up with multiple styles of the same watch in the same year, sometimes even mixing tank and round styles under the same name?

·

I think Unimatic are pretty cool.

I've got a U2 classic on order. Should be delivered end of April ☺

They are very unique and I can't deny the amazing looks, I just think they charge a little too much but overall good

I'd have to disagree to a point, I think G-Shock is perfectly good for what it is. It just isn't very stylish or "cool" in my opinion.

Vostok Amphibia and  Elliot Brown.

Not a fan of Vostok but I do respect them and anyone who wears one is a true enthusiast.

When I was 8yrs old, any watch that has Mickey Mouse or Superman was the coolest.

At 12 years old, a Casio Calculator or Tv remote control watch was the coolest and screamed at my Dad for refusing to buy me one.

At 15 it was Casio Baby G Shock

At 18 it was Casio Mudmaster when I enlisted into the army.

At 22 at college it was big cases fashion watches like Fossil and  Nautica (wtf was I thinking?!)

At 30 it was Rolex cos I didnt save enough money yet.

At 40 now, it is Cartier, because I am into classics and timeless design now.

What’s next? 🤪

😂😂 My dad wears Nautica watches and I am desperately trying to get him to stop and wear something decent

This is a great thread @CombatWombat by the way!

I think it all depends on your perception of cool ultimately.

If you consider rappers cool then maybe it’s a iced out cartier santos.

If you consider pilots cool, it’s probably a Breitling Aerospace.

If you consider Jacques Cousteau cool, it’s likely a vintage doxa.

And if you consider Michael corleone cool, it’s a all gold pie pan omega constellation!

So the answer is…. depends 😂😜

I mean I could start another one about specific watches here I was more looking at brands as a whole rather than individual watches. And if I was a pilot I would absolutely buy an Aerospace cause it would actually be useful, plus titanium so not like a brick on your wrist.

I'll do one now

Seiko. starting as an outsider to the watch industry they vertically integrated everything, not just making their own movements (which are awesome) but also their own hairsprings. This spirit of independence and not relying on others is just badass to me. Same goes for their designs, which were not as derivative as most other watch manufactureres

·

Fortis 👍

Omega, its probably the bond connection for me.

agreed. I'm an Omega guy 100%.

·

Oris and Sinn.

·

As a lot of comments have dismissed Rolex…I’m going to pick Rolex for every reason that was said to be a bad thing. Never had a bad experience with an AD or the brand at all. Besides, Rolex was what made watches cool.

·

So, I'm a sucker for Omega (Buzz Aldrin wore it on the moon; James Bond wore it with a tuxedo). That being said, I'll always have a specially place in my heart for Timex watches. They were the first brand that I wore (given as a Christmas gift), and the Timex Weekender remains an absolute classic.

·

in my opinion the brand that correspond the most of the definition of "cool" are Swatch, H-moser&co, Mr.Jones watches.

Guinand for sure. Made with a focus on engineering, from a company with the highest level of customer support. Super functional, and no stupid marketing hype. These are proper cool/tool watches, German style.

For me, Moser just DGAF and that's what makes them cool.
