Thank you for adding the Maurice Lacroix Aikon to the discussion. I tried on a couple at Windup and absolutely love them! They seem to offer tremendous bang for the buck. A little big for me - at least the ones I tried on - but very attractive watches.

You asked a number of good questions, and I think people have provided some great answers. @Chunghauphoto mentioned asking before winding - right on! - also ask before running a chronograph.

P.S. Don't bring replicas. Nothing wrong with an homage.

But seriously, I'd get a nice simple dress watch. You mentioned above Longines - they are so underrated!

I mean... look at this shot from Fratello on the sector dial Longines...

But vintage Longines also offers a lot of value. For around the same price as a modern watch, you can get something in 18k gold.
