I was listening to the Worn and Wound podcast during Windup. Blake, Zach, and so on were meeting with different brands, and one question that Blake asked a few times was fascinating: "What does a 10k watch from your brand look like?"
I thought it would be interesting to hear what you all think. Pick your favorite micro-brand and describe your fantasy 10k watch.
For example, for me, I've never owned a Monta, but I've always wanted one... and I think an Ocean King in 14K or 18k gold would be incredible.

10k watch for me? Im thinking a Casio with a blond complication. Hand wind only.
I deal in reality.
And my reality doesn't include 5 figure wristwatches.

Im at work still so just a lightning fast phone shot.
Christopher Ward Aquataine GMT with taupe-colored dial (think BB58 925 dial color) and case made of white gold
Solid gold Monta Skyquest with black or green bezel
Hmmm 🤔
How about a Seiko Ceramic ~8L55 Skeleton diver with tourbillon, lumibrite indices and full ceramic bracelet. Both dressy and indestructible
… Probably would look horrid but I’d love to see the attempt
$10,000 looks more like a car to me.
Interesting exercise and good thread. I’m not a big microbrand person, myself. I’ve only ever owned one - a Detroit Watch Company, which I sold. I have dipped my toes (not easily or often) in the 5 figure watch pool. After giving it some thought, I could never pull the trigger on a 5 figure microbrand watch, out of the (unproven) fear that down the line it would lose much more value vs the same price watch from a known luxury brand.
Thanks for listening! I thought it would be fun to hear how some of these brands would go about expressing their ethos/design language/themes with no or less restrictions to budget as a way of clarifying how they communicate about their brands and what's important to them. What differentiates them besides accessibility, basically.
For me personally, I'd like to see what a no holds barred Serica, Farer, or Autodromo (Group B style).

Thanks for the consistently awesome content!
A Vostok amphibia with a $9,900 cashiers check sitting under it.
I haven't had a lot of experience with microbrands, the only one I've really had experience with is Lorier. So I would by default go with them.
I think it would have to be a new collection. They are really into vintage-inspired designs, so I would love to see a gold-cased watch, with a vintage movement, maybe even an enamel dial. I think design-wise it would be up for them to design.
I think it would be interesting to see across the board what many microbrands would do.
Edited apologies--didn't realize this was just for microbrands A ~41mm #grandseiko spring drive diver. Preferably the slga015. GS is slowly trimming their case thickness and diameter, so fingers-crossed this isn't a pipedream so much as it's something just around the corner?

Photo is required. I’m obsessing about Dornbluth

I saw it now. Stunner. What dial did you go for? Engraved?

Oh man, that's nice. Tell us more! How do you like it? I've never seen a world time on a subdial before. Would you consider doing a video about it? I'd love to know more.
Also, how was the ordering process? How long did it take?
(I lied, now that I think about it. I once tried on a JLC Master Control Sector Dial Worldtime. That was a nice watch.)
I like either of these in titanium, but especially the Sarpaneva.

Solid gold Autodromo Group B ftw
I'm in love with Felipe Pikullik at the moment, my slightly customized model arrived around a month ago.
His prices went up a bit, what I paid was still a very aggressive "advertising" price, but for 10k you could get something very unique:
Custom dial, printed or applied numerals or even these laser cut metal rings (look him up on Instagram, you will see what I mean). And a custom hand finished movement as well, for 10k there might even be room to choose the type of movement that he than skeletonizes and finishes etc. With that might come a case that he currently doesn't offer.
But because I could never spend so much on a watch, I'm not exactly sure.
