So...how do you handle winter?

I'll admit from the start that I'm one of those who don't handle winter very well. I mean that I can accept the concept of winter but I'd rather experience it through the magic of watching a NG documentary. It's not so much the cold and the rain that bothers me as it's the lack of sunshine. There are days when I feel like Garfield when he woke up and found that all the colors went missing from his life.

The ongoing dreary grey is wearing me down, especially in the mornings when I can't step out and enjoy warming myself under the sun while drinking the morning coffee.

I try to add a bit of zest by adding brighter colors, but there is a limit to what I can do when I go to the office. Which is why I'm wearing today wearing the red Zephyr from Lorier. It's dial has a way of changing hue going from crimson to terracotta red, which is subtle enough to be pleasing and interesting.

It's also the only two handed watch in my collection. I thought that I would be bothered by the lack of a second's hand but it didn't turn out this way, and I find that two hands are good enough for telling me the time.

Classy watch dude!

I wear it to mask my thuggish nature. I can't wait to get old enough and reach the age when I'll be able to wear an "old man special" two tone gold watch.

WTH is Walmart doin selling this

Walmart's website is kind of like Amazon a little bit now. They offer a platform for other businesses to sell through and take a cut of the sales for their trouble.

Noticed this, but was still a little shocked. Maybe cuz I don't exactly associate Walmart with gold nugget watches 😂.

True.

Wait!!! You hate winter because of dreary rain?

Perhaps we could interest you in about six feet of bright, white, shiny fresh fallen snow. That ought to cheer you up. LOL

·

Being in a hot climate, winter is the only time I can properly function. Gorgeous Lorier though

·

Hibernate 👌😂heating on 24 hours 7 days a week.

·

Nice watch! Winter is my favourite time of year. I can't stand the sunshine and the heat. Hate it, lol

·

Beautiful watch!

This watch looks like it was designed for me but after years of wearing barely functioning vintage watches I need the reassurance that a small seconds gives. I just can't do a two hander.

Yes, and also not a fan of winter. There are small signs of Spring in the trees here.

Winter has it's place. It's the time I wear all the watches I prefer on leather straps that I can't wear in the summer.

This is basically what my cat does and it seems to be working fine for him. Obviously it's only possible for him to do so because he has me who wake up every morning for work.

I mostly hate the lack of sunshine. The shorter days when the sun barely rise above the horizon are one of the reasons why I never returned to live in France.

This is something that I can understand. The fragility of vintage watches is the main reason why I don't have any despite liking their style over what is mostly sold today.

My retired 90 year old accountant is dealing with our Canadian winter as he has always: taking a 70 day cruise to the usual swell places until he stumbles back home to Toronto in late March. He will often purchase some deeply regrettable watch brand such as Franck Muller before returning.

January and February are tough months in the UK: steely grey skies obliterate sunlight. It's cold; it's windy. Tax return deadlines. January credit card bill. The news is shit: corruption and war...

... so tuck into a good book. Make coffee. Admire your watch collection. Binge a Netflix series. Read a bunch of watch reviews or listen to your favorite YouTuber. Take a long, angry power walk through the elements as an act of defiance and to get some exercise. Do home gym and callisthenics when you can't be arsed to go to the gym. Basically, you boss these months, not the other way around. And before you know it, it's March and the worst is over.

I have a white one. Love it and Lorier. Just picked up the Hperion Skyward as well.

·

I’m with you on the red watch winter theme but I love the snow. Venturian WildSider for me here

During long winters in Wisconsin, I try to get a lot of exercise...
