Do you have a brand preference in your watch collecting?

At first I tried to collect watches related to movies. With my limited budgets and availability, turns out I collect Seiko’s watches more than other brand. Only have couple other Japanese brands and only one swiss made.

I know some people that only collect a certain brand consistently. I didn’t intend to do that, but somehow that’s what happened in my journey.

Anybody else got the same experience and story?

Yeah I'm a Seiko Fanboy. There designs just speak to me. I would rather try a new Seiko than anything else under $2500.

·

I’m an Omega fan, but have ventured far beyond as there are so many good watches for so less money. I’m currently on micro-brands. Heaven help me.

·

Seiko checking in here as well. It just speaks to the value/reliability side of my brain. Just like driving a Toyota or Honda.

So using this logic, although my first intention is to collect unique movies related watches, somehow I ended up having a Toyota or Honda 😂

If you know, you know.

I don’t have any brand that dominates my collection, but I have been falling for #seiko more and more! Particularly the #vintage ones.

My experience is very similar. Ten years ago, my wife bought me my first "nice" watch. It was a Citizen. It was so beautiful that my next 14 watches were ALL citizen before I decided to buy an Orient Kamasu. To date, of my 27 watches, 16 of them are Citizen. The rest are a mix of Orient, Timex, Glycine and Tissot. No Seiko timepiece yet.

·

Seiko fan boy right here.

I went through a period where I was really into their quartz chronographs and then I stopped after six. 😅

·

Yep, with my limited budget at the start of my collecting stages and bad eye sight I got Invicted 😂

·

Casio square g shocks specifically

·

That is a lovely collection 🤩 I probably would end up with Seiko if I was to build a collection from one brand only. I could also go Citizen. Tudor and Oris are more expensive but good choices for me aswell. Maybe Omega too if I were made out of money 😅

·

There are brands I like more, but I don’t do more than 1 watch per brand in the collection so nothing has taken over my collection.

·

Just by running the numbers it looks like I do have a favorite because I have more watches from Casio than any other brand.

·

This happened to me as well. My limited budget doesn't allow me to spend more than $1000. Seiko rules my price range. I think this is a good thing because I'm still new to watch collecting and still developing my taste in watches. There is no need to spend fortune to know what I like and don't like. I'm happy with my Seiko watches so far.

I have a few Seikos, including an SSB401, a Presage Cocktail Time Black Cat (a beautiful watch), and a vintage 1970s 6138-0030 Kakume which I love. Their watches do tend to speak to me when I'm browsing through websites seeing what I might like to get next. It wasn't intentional for me either, but I do have a few other brands like Junghans, Omega and Citizen, to help 'diffuse' the Seiko-ness of my collection. 😆

Care to share some of those micro-brands?

Christopher Ward, Praesidus, Studio Underd0g, Farer, echo/neutra are watches I either have or on a waitlist for a watch from. I also like fun, unique pieces that can be had for cheap like the Seagull 1963 and the Vostok Amphibia.

I have three 'core' brand that make up a chunk of my collection. Breitling, Seiko and Alpina.

How has your Breitling experience been? I flirt with the brand but never date it.

I like a few brands in particular. I am with you regarding Seiko for budget watches. Great watches straight up, and great movements used in homages. My first luxury watch was a Breitling, and I’ll always love the brand. Beyond that, Omega, Glashutte Original, and Ball are all fixtures in my collection. I’d consider Rolex, but when I gave them a chance I learned how little they care about their customers.

I love the Ball Trainmaster Roman. That’s one beautiful watch!

I have a Trainmaster TMT, but not Roman. It’s an important part of my collection, serving as dress watch for lower flash occasions like interviews or wakes.

I find myself getting into a certain watch and then getting multiple colors. I’ve got two mor brands to get. Seiko and orient. Got multiple citizens and a bunch of GShocks and Protreks.

Hard to answer that. I guess I really enjoy them. The build is great, I like the designs and generally (except some stuff in the 2000-2014 period) I think the brand vibe is really cool.

The Arnie is surprisingly very comfortable to wear despite the size, I wear it for most of my physical activity from going on stage to my movie production.

Schwarzenegger liked that watch so much he named himself after it.
