Watches you bring on your holiday

What are yours? Usually I bring my G shock or Seiko Arnie, the tough boys, to my outdoor holidays. But now I want to switch things up.

Casio AE 1200, the ultimate travel watch. Reliable, looks good, and pretty affordable that I won’t be too worry if it’s broken or got lost in my travels.

Vostok Amphibia 710059. Relatively cheap, (kinda) shock proof & water resistant.

Read somewhere yesterday that we better be considerate and aware of the watches we brought to our holiday abroad. About the conditions of the country we visit, about the habit and the culture of the people that we visit, etc. Nothing wrong with bringing our luxury dive watch to the beach, but maybe with a bit more cautious to our surrounding. I tend to agree.

So take any pics of your watches on your holidays? Do share!

I bought the Casio for travel too. The perfect travel companion and no risk of robbery if you’re wearing something expensive. Just got the Vario leather strap for it which really sets it off nicely.

Depends what has been added…it’s never the same

I think you are showing the two best!! The AE1200 for some travel and the aqua scuba dude for tropical locations/water!!

The Royale is a great travel watch for the price, but it can be fiddly to remember how to set the time zones if you don't wear it often. I also have an issue with how easy it is to accidentally change from home time to a saved time zone. They really need to sink that pusher into the case a bit more.

I find I prefer a multi-band equipped G Shock for travel, especially if hiking or swimming is on the itinerary. A G can replace a world timer or GMT, a sports watch, and a beater. And with models under $100, they don't have to attract too much attention. Depending on the dress codes needed, a cheap quartz dress watch rounds things out nicely.

This is a deep, deep hypothetical for me. Key West in the off season is as tropical as I've gotten and that was a quarter of a century ago. I can't remember if I wore a watch on that trip, lol. If I were to go now I'd most likely take along a couple AliExpress watches because that's what I have. And since pretty much all I have are dive style watches they should be okay for sun, salt and sand.

I traveled abroad once this year and if possibile I bring 1 watch and no straps option to travel as light as possibile.

Longines LLD on perlon. The inner bezel makes a good ersatz GMT.

When I travel I only take the watch on my wrist. When I travel for the last eight years that has been a Casio G-shock Rangeman 9400. Does everything I could possibly need.

Mainly Casio Protrek. No risk of theft, rugged enough, easy to read display, useful functions like ABC (altimeter, barometer, compass), worldtime, etc. Lasts forever on solar.

If it's for some event like a wedding where I have to be a bit more formal, probably a Seiko Presage carried in a secondary watch case.
