Guys, can you name some budget friendly diver watches with 2 filter points: a) black and gold face color (Formula1 fans reference: John Player Special)
b) case size of 38mm (this will certainly shorten the list of possible suspects)
Is it something you want to get right now? Just asking because one of the Clemence line fits this quite well.
Their black dialed diver also comes with gilt indices and hands so that’s the black and gold covered. 39mm so we’re close. Only thing is they come out in batches. Tom the company owner is a cruncher and you could check if he’s putting out another batch at some point. His handle is @Clemence_Watches I’ve got the blue gradient dial and love it.
Geckota Seahunter , Black and Gold is actually quite attractive and the overall quality of this piece is excellent. It's only real down fall is that it case is 40mm and 47mm length.
Really nice I think. Available from a good British company.
Might get a reaction from some due to the buying experience, but Smiths have a 38mm diver called the Commander. Mine is on a mustard nato but comes on a bracelet
Not exactly what you are asking for, but since you referred to JPS there is a watch from Christopher Ward that was designed with JPS in mind. Unfortunately it's a limited edition that is no longer on sale, and case diameter is 41 mm.

Thanks Matt! Really appreciate you thinking of us here 😊 @Boris016 we'll be brining the Photic back in 2024 but if there's anything else I can help with in the meantime feel free to get in touch!
So many lovely watches. Black divers are so artistic. I dont prefer white details only because they give them the cold vibe. But this "summer" yellowish color bring some joy to them. Like the tropical summer night, waiting the 007 grand entering in his white tuxedo.

Do you actually mean dial size, or do you mean case size?
San Martin diver has a model homage to Tudor
Cheers!
Case size. For a sports watch i do like 38mm case with around 46mm lug to lug.
Alsta Nautoscaph 50th anniversary is 38mm case. Not sure about the actual dial size though. 🤔
Difficult to get hold of, but that wasn't one of your criteria 😁
A lovely watch but i would prefer the price closer to San Martin than to Tudor :-D

Is a two tone Invicta out of the question?
I have a black and gold marlin which is certainly on budget but fails the size test sorry?
I've had invicta 8626ob before I got San Martin SN004G.
This one has a 42mm case, but because it is a mini-turtle, the lug to lug is about 45mm, Which is shorter than most 38mm watches.

38mm Seiko, but with 46mm lugs.

I think you are better off with the watch you posted in the picture, the San Martin SN004G. Seems to have good reviews and value for the price.
Any thoughts on what is your budget?
Shame about the size constraints, cos otherwise the Spinnaker Cahill 300 Black Gold fitteth the bill...

The Lorier Neptune is close @ 39mm with 46 lug-to-lug ... pre-order at $499

Nico says that’s God Tier.

Timex, Invicta, Dan Henry

Might be closer for a guy not afraid to roll a few eyes 😂😁

Glycine Combat Sub 39, gilt. GL0401
My own. Only 38mm but looks a bit oversized on 6 inch hand.
My beloved Christopher Ward C65 Aquitaine GMT.
My C65 Aquitaine is at 41mm. The new Dune C65 GMT comes in at 38mm and about $200 cheaper.
Oris divers 65 had some 38s, I think? Tons of models and colors, they wear small IMO as well
I'm biased as hell but old school sized divers with black and gold/orange/yellow are most artistic watches out there. White on black is a bit souless.
