Is Tudor considerably better than Christopher Ward ?

I’ve been looking at taking the step to the next price bracket of watches £1000 plus. But wonder is worth waiting and taking the step up to Tudor. Are they considerably better quality than Christopher Ward ? I see CW say they only mark up their price by X3 unsure how much mark up on Tudors products.

Anyone that owns either or who has worn both I’d love to hear from you and your thoughts and experiences.

I own a BB58 and a C60. Case finishing is top level on both. CW also does some pretty cool innovative stuff. Both are COSC certified. The C60 even has 600m depth rating (as it's I guess meant to be a serious diver).

But the Tudor as a manufacture caliber and quite a bit more prestige and most of all history.

So it depends on what is meaningful to you.

I really like the looks of Christopher Ward, and heard good things, but I think what happens is consuming watch content online, you hear constant chatter about Tudor, Rolex etc and get drawn to the idea they are massively superior. I just wonder where the diminishing returns of value / quality starts? If that makes sense

·

Not to be cynical, but I think a lot of what you're paying for when you buy a Tudor is the ability to say, "It's a luxury watch. The same company as Rolex!" Which is not meant to criticize their watches, but their prices don't make sense to me.

I think basic watches to basic watches…Tudor wins. If you’re buying something like the Bel Canto. Then…CW

·

Some say yes and some say no.

Both have their reasons and neither are wrong

I must say.. the fact that CW does something like the Bel Canto or even the C60 for such an affordable price - because they basically give a s*** about what the rest of the industry thinks (and then they also are very open and transparent about that) - is reason enough to at least own one of their pieces :D

Christopher Ward provides incredible value for money.

When I look at my collection; generally there's a big difference in the details between watch brands. I have my own pyramid to describe where Each watch in my collection stands.

In my opinion Christopher ward would Reside well below Tudor.

On My pyramid Tudor would be above longines, and below omega, grand seiko, and rolex.

Christopher ward would be Lower then entry level Oris watches with a similar movement, and much lower than Oris with in house 400 movements.

This is my personal pyramid And you might have different perceptions.

For me, that line where the quality to price ratio really starts to get out of whack for "basic" watches is right there at $1000.

There are exceptions of course, but yeah.

So for me, a CW The Twelve is a better value than a Tudor BB.

Interestingly though…Tudor classifies themselves as a “Premier” category watch, not a luxury watch.

I love both brands, but they play in different fields. Movements, cases, bracelets, etc. That said, CW is coming on strong and still remain one of the best values in the $1000-$2000 range.

I didn't know that.

·

I own 2 CWs (C60 and C65 chronograph) and 1 Black Bay. And while the Tudor is better, it won't stop me from buying another CW.

·

I would say that “better” in regards to any brand or model is entirely subjective to whomever dsires it. The CW represents an amazing value, but to me for instance the Tudor BB58 is better just because it is a no date.

·

I’m sorry, but this question should have never been asked 🤣

·

CW is excellent, but Tudor is in a whole different league

Can you elaborate ?

·

I’d say with the Rolex knowledge and resources, Tudor SHOULD be the better watch. Although I’ve never handled a CW so I can’t make a stance either way.

If you’re moving into the £1000+ then go for CW. Work your way up to the Tudor in future purely based on a pricing perspective. Let it be part of your ‘journey’.

·

I enjoy both brands.

CW is not Tudor and Tudor is not CW.

It's hard to say which one is better because that depends on what the priorities are.

I can see someone "upgrading" to a Tudor when they want more of whatever it is that CW doesn't offer.

BUT, I can also see someone giving up Tudor for a CW because it offers more than enough quality and functionality at more than half the cost.

What I would personally do is get a Tudor first and then a CW if the desire for one still exists.

·

Aren't the Tudor prices thousands more? Also CW watches seem to have more of there own vibe rather than looking like everyone elses watch. This is why I voted no, we are supposed to believe that since Tudor is owned by Rolex the quality is better though. It might be but I kind of don't want to support their empire.
