My next purchase

I’ve been between three watches for my next purchase. I want a white dial under 40 mm, has a steel bracelet, and is under $1500. I think that any of these three would be a good daily casual wearer. Which one would you choose? Let me know if there are other options you would consider.

If I had to choose between them I’d take the Seiko. But for the requirements and budget you had I’d pick this Chris Ward.

I'd go with the  seiko

Among these I believe the Rado is a close second… But I‘d go with the Seiko Presage personally (Especially this white dial showcasing that intricate hemp leaf pattern).

One of my absolute favorite watches in the world, and given the strong dollar, it's an absolute screaming deal at the moment:

I second this. The Christopher Ward C63 Sealander comes in 39mm and 36mm; phenomenal build specs and quality for the price. The Sellita movement is also gonna be more accurate than the Seikos. Swiss made, to boot! I ordered a 36mm Sealander myself not too long ago.

Thanks for the input. I‘ve never considered them. The finishing looks pretty on par with the Monta Noble which is just outside of my budget.

I currently have the Seiko SPB155 and I love it which lead me to the SPB165 but I think I’m really loving the Rado. There is something simple and charming about it.

Christopher Ward do great work and I don’t think they can be beaten for the price. I’ll definitely be getting one at some point but I’ve got my sights on a watch from Clemence Watches first.

That dial is great!

Rado outdid themselves on that watch.  Beautiful sunburst pattern guilloche dial with those heat blued gracefully curved hands.  Are the majority of WatchCrunches beekeepers or something with their preference to the honeycomb pattern on the Seiko?

Titanium case.  You should check out @Fieldwalker's post about going to the GS studio.  One of the black belt level watchmakers wearing...  the SARX055!

The Rado is such a great looking watch. I just hope that the version I have posted in the poll stays with that dial because the new 41mm Coupole classic has a pressed waffle-like design. I went back to Rado’s site and this version is not listed and on other sites it has a notify me option.

My friend, where is the SARX055 among all that good stuff?

That’s a beauty. I really like the feel of my 38 mm SPB155 that I’m kinda hesitant to get a 40 mm.

All three are beautiful. Looks like you have a very clear aesthetic decided on. Have you checked Longines and/or Stowa?

I love Longines specifically the new 37 mm Longines Spirit but that’ll be a watch for another day. & I haven’t heard of Stowa before.

I just looked back over Longines and the Flagship watch slaps. I’ll need to try it on.

Stowa‘s Marine models might be of interest.

I own the seiko presage sharp edge with the white dial myself and am happy with it. Although I own many other watches (also more expensive ones), the seiko is my everyday watch. The dial is fascinating, the case is surprisingly hard (the watch goes everywhere with me and hardly has any scratches) and the bracelet, apart from the clasp, has a very high-quality finish.

I can therefore recommend the seiko 100%. It was one of my first watches and i would buy it again in a heartbeat. 💯

There is an ad a couple hours away that I’m going to try the Seiko at this weekend.

You will not regret it. I studied it for a long time before buying it and I am still convinced that this choice is by far one of the best watches for the money (if you enjoy the design). It's the perfect mix of elegance and sportiness. Moreover, you don't have to be afraid that someone will try to steal it from you, so you can take it everywhere with a clear conscience. If it gets damaged, any watchmaker can simply replace or repair the seiko movement. And as a bonus, the watch is magnet resistant and suitable for swimming.

I hope you enjoy this choice. 😉

I have Mido and Seiko watches in my collection, but in the quality stakes there’s no doubt that Rado is a step above both. That’s where I’d put my money between these 3.
