Montblanc

I tried this on at a boutique the other day. I think I’m digging it, but I don’t know if I’m $3000 digging it.

Beautiful 🔥💚

At least you have some restraint, a few years ago a friend walked into a Montblanc boutique here in Toronto, walked out with a 10k cad Nicolas Rieussec watch did not receive a penny discount not even a baseball cap of some sort. He said the sales agent was polite and presentable, impeccable manners!

Das alloda doll hairs

Beutiful watch. My understand is the brand doesn't hold value well so there might be a good deal on the secondary market.

Yikes. The representative at the boutique was really nice and walked me through the history and his experience with Montblanc beginning with his ownership of a piece in the early 90’s. That being said $3190 was still $3190 and I couldn’t walk out of the store with it. I’d have to order it.

Montblanc hires very professional sales agents, terrific company. I love their pens lol.

·

Looks kinda worth it to me....

·

It’s a great looking piece for sure. If it was me I would look at preowned. I have checked out some of their watches online. I really like their Fineliner pens.

·

What he said. Very few brands command msrp. Make Discounts Real Again!

·

Ask for discount for sure or go and buy one on the secondary/grey market. I am a huge Montblanc fan myself and own a few but never bought at MSRP. It’s a great brand with top quality but since it’s not as hyped as the usual brands it doesn’t hold value.

·

Would you be $2,000 digging it?

·

Do their watches not feature the famous Mont Blanc "star" emblem, like all their pens?

I see it now, up close, as the "sun" in the graphic. That counts. 😉

I love mine. I think it is my most warn watch.

What’s the dial?

I mean that’s not bad

Chump change. You got it bro. You really don't NEED to pay bills, right 😁🥴

·

An SW-200 based movement. The Mont Blanc name. Personally, at that price point, I'd look very, very hard at a Longines Hydroconquest GMT. But YMMV.

·

Out of all the luxury "fashion watches" (Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Bulgari, Mont Blanc), I think Hermes and Bulgari are showing they are serious. To me, Mont Blanc are pen people. If they are serious about competing and refining, they'll improve. Cartier transcended their origins and have real heritage, as they also made automatic movements. So one day, Mont Blanc will make it. Someone will buy this. To me, it's not a 3K watch. Gray market? Sure. I'd consider it. They make phenomenal fountains pens. If that sort of quality comes from Mont Blanc, they can probably make a stellar watch. I really do like that meteorite dial.

I was just thinking about Montblanc today. Passing some time in an airport. A few weeks ago I stopped to look in the Montblanc shop.

This Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea was calling my name. I decided to leave because I was tempted to swipe the credit card.

I've wondered why they don't get much attention here but always assumed it's because they're also so associated with pens and cufflinks.

·

I suppose you can add another zero and some change and go for the new Montblanc 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph 😂. Montblanc is an interesting manufacturer since their high-end watches often use fancier Minerva movements and their other watches tend to use modified Sellita movements. $3,000 may be steep, but there are many other brands that charge similar for modified Sellita or Miyota movements. I agree with the other posters here to try to get one 2nd hand or try to negotiate a deal. Including some pics of the Monopusher here for kicks 😀

I tried the gray one too. I was leaning towards the green dial solely because the rubber strap is way more comfortable than the steel bracelet. Did you feel the bracelet was stiff?

Did you wear it on the steel bracelet at all? I thought it was pretty uncomfortable and stiff.

I mainly wear it on the bracelet and did so exclusively for about a year. I find it be comfortable, the only part that is still is first few links from the watch head but it fits my wrist perfectly so I do not notice the stiffness. I think that stiffness comes from how the quick release is designed.

It was a tad stiff but not enough to make me dislike it. They also generously offered to sell me an additional black rubber strap. I honestly was reaching for my wallet when I heard my daughters voice, in my head, scolding me and reconsidered. $3K stung just a hair too much. It was beautiful, but I've haven't spent that kind of money on a watch yet.

I love my Montblanc (though it’s been back at Montblanc for the last 6 months) I bought mine as it’s just such a beautiful thing to look at. Alice and has always been perceived, I bought mine at near full asking price, because to me it was worth it, the only way I am ever selling is if life gives me no other option so resale os of zero importance. If you think it’s too much, it’s too much, as I say value is perceived by the individual.
