Mayors Jewelers

Is Mayors becoming obsolete? I’ve been going to the Mayors in Tampa, FL for over a year now. I feel like brands are jumping ship from being carried there and are opting for their own storefronts. This mall has Mont Blanc, Rolex, Breitling storefronts already , and has Tag Heuer and Omega on the way. Does this mean that those brands are no longer going to be carried at Mayors? Are we going to see more boutiques in the future? Is this going to be the end of Mayors? Wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts?

I am not familiar with Mayors but if they sell jewelry I imagine they should be fine - though I am not positive how much the jewelry business depends on the watch sales. I would say that it’s unlikely that specific store/dealer will ever be an AD for again for the brands with boutiques within the same mall… why create competition for yourself? Where the big brands don’t find boutiques are as financially viable, they’ll lean on the existing AD network and places like Mayors (or at least this is my bet).

If I am not mistaken, Majors owns many of those stores including Rolex. Mall space is cheap these days so many stores are buying up the vacant spaces and putting in boutiques.

Mayors definitely operates brand specific boutiques and this is a general trend. You might ask the employees about the ultimate owner of those boutiques

We’re already seeing more boutiques. Just before Rolex made their announcement of purchasing bucherer, JLC and PANERAI left them to go the boutique route. We’re going to see more of this in the future.

Mayors controls the TAG and Breitling spaces in Town Center in Boca. They’ve kind of made more space for their brands rather than give them up. I don’t think that they’re going anywhere any time soon.

The rep’s card at the Tudor shop in Mall at Millenia in Orlando had both Tudor and Mayors logos on it. Makes sense now that Mayors has a stake, but the rep didn’t want to disclose that. Maybe they should think about editing their cards
