I got it new with the box and papers including the Chronometer certification.
I couldn't believe the price, so I bought it the moment I saw it.
Problem will be I'll end up spending more money on straps than what I spent on the watch it self ๐
Edit: Granted the strap is stiff as a stick (pictured with a strap from another watch), older model perhaps and may be it can look boring to some, but the specs alone grant way more than what was paid for it.
$ 368 by the way ๐บ

First person came to mind when I received it was you man ๐
Wearing the black dial version right now. Hands and markers catch so much light, they work better than lume in low light situations.
Great pick.

I was skeptical as I'm not a dress watch guy. The possibility to dress it down sold it for me and our friend @JackieMoon_LMS confirmed itย
Tissot is just one of those companies with heritage thatโs still providing value, enjoy it while you can. ย Seems Seiko is getting out of the value business, and I think most companies that can are going upmarket. Great looking watch by the way.ย

Thank you and I totally agree with the Seiko statement which makes me and many others sad. Personally, Seiko is one of my favorite value brands, but them moving up the cost ladder is taking away from their appeal in my opinion.ย

I'm 100% with you on that. ย Like many, my first mechanical watch was an SKX and it very much sparked my interest in watches. ย I'd always liked watches, but that one got me into watches in a much deeper way.ย
A quick comment on Seiko: ย I have no idea what they think they're doing right now. ย I get moving up market, but it doesn't seem like they're offering any more value, they're just raising prices. ย I see these $1k dive watches that look almost identical to their $500 dive watches, don't have better finishing, have the same specs, and often have the same quality issues. ย It's like they've decided to move upmarket while also deciding to cut costs, and that's a bad combination.

You are literally speaking my mind. My first automatic was the Seiko turtle manta ray-I was late to the SKX scene- and I went down the rabbit hole since then.
Their value proposition was a no brainer, but now, as you said, I can't justify the $ 1K+ price tag. May be they got caught up in the "people are buying, so why not? " mentality. Or they got tired of the underdog and value proposition stigma!
That being said I'm considering their new GMT which brings back the good value.ย

The GMT does seem like a decent watch and good value, so they haven't completely lost their way. ย To me, the issue is that they could have started increasing prices and kept quality high. ย Then up their game on the real high-end stuff they want to sell. ย Let's see some great finishing. ย Let's see some cool dials. ย But don't try to charge more money for the same watch AND let quality slip.
I have the tissot Le Locle which seems to be the cheaper version of yours but stills incredible for the price.
It's not cheap when It costs over 300$ when working people have to choose between food or heat in some parts of the western world...ย
I would bet the watch isn't cheaply mad either?
Impressive with a chronometer at that price ๐คฏ Good looking too. Enjoy โบ๏ธ
Great looking and great value. I have also replaced the band on my Tissot perpetual calendar for something more comfortable. The hands do catch the light well - not the level of finish of my GS but same idea and very easy to read.ย
Tissot offers a large number of watch styles, some far more popular than others. On the grey market the color of a dial can easily make a $100 difference. If you pick a model than is not that much in demand, you pay far less than for a popular watch with similar specs.ย
Thanks man!ย

Seeing yours on a NATO has me thinking about all the possibilities. Leather nato should work nicely as well!

Definitely. One leather NATO added to the cart ๐

Nothing comes close to GS finishing. Do you mind sharing a photo of your perpetual calendar, I'd love to see it.ย

You are right!ย
I meant cheap relative to what it offers. So I apologize for not being clear.ย

No problem! Here you are:
Itโs a beautiful watch, now on a Barton band.ย

I donโt know if youโre asking a rhetorical question, but Tissot, Longines, and Hamilton are all great values because theyโre under the Swatch group and have rich histories, so lower advertising costs, cheap and exclusive access to ETA movements, economies of scale in manufacturing and sourcing raw materials, etc. Last I tried assembling a watch, the movement, case, etc. cost $450, and that doesnโt include labour, which goes to show how efficient a mature company like Tissot is.

You explained it so clearly, but my question wasn't rhetorical at all. I'm genuinely surprised about the price I paid for a COSC watch even after considering all the points you mentioned.
That being said MSRP of this watch I believe was $925, so inherently it's not as cheap as I got it.ย
really like it and itโs going on the List.ย
but somehow I feel like a dresswatch needs to be manual wind. ย I cant explain

I agree, but I don't see it as a dress watch even if it's leaning towards that role.
I'm gonna dress it down with casual leather straps and cordura, etc. As I don't have a venue/workfor a dess watch.ย
I have a 1997 Tissot PR100, was the last watch my father bought during his life. Itโs as good as or better than any watch I own - solid bracelet, engraved screwdown back, screwdown crown, crown guards, sapphire crystal, day/dateโฆMovement is ETA2892-2 beating at 28800 bph so equivalent Tudor, Mido, Oris and many others.
The Powermatic 80 is the next generation - they slowed the movement down to 21600 to generate the 80 hour power reserve.
Enjoy the watch. You probably paid a bit much for it though๐คฃ
You are lucky your father's choice forwatch sizes was better than mine ๐
I paid 368 and the offer on Amazon is back for 370 ๐คฏ
May they rest in peace.ย
