So what about this watch?

I’m drawn to this watch because it really takes me back to the 70s. I like the green display myself, but the red is more authentic.

Opinions?

It’s on my list of digitals for sure

·

I like it, but don't like its price

It is pretty expensive, I agree. That’s why I don’t have one yet. It’s not top of list!

But, man, I do like it.

There's an Armitron that has some similarities without the subtlety or the poise, but is barely even a 1/10th of the price. Armitron Griffy

Could be a fun short term alternative for the price, give it to a friend or a young family member when you can afford the Hamilton

·

The PSR is a cool watch and the red variant is the one that brings me back to the 70's.

But the limited functionality and the price makes it something I think about occasionally and not a watch I obsessed about and that I have to buy.

I never buy ‘place-holder’ watches. Not enough disposable income.

·

Far too expensive. If you want a watch that looks cool and only tells time when you specifically ask for it, the Griffy is pretty great.

Fair enough

I’m a fan as well. I prefer the green. Something about the faux end links doesn’t look right to me when I hold one in person. They feel nice and solid though and the bracelet is very good.

·

I love it, same red one....70's vibe !!

·

My husband has one with the red display and loves it. Truth be told I do too and would wear it if the bracelet weren't already sized for his wrist.

·

I like the warm vintage vibes.

Take the one you personally like more.

It's gonna be your watch. No justification necessary. 😇

·

Doesn't this one basically stay black until you hit the button? Or is that older watches I'm thinking of

·

You know what I say…

Go big or go home

I like this style of watch so much I have the black/red PSR and the gold/red Computron.

They're just cool.

It would be nice if Hamilton had updated the PSR to at least show 24h time though.

I personally don’t own the watch, but it’s one I LOVE. Always appreciate vintage aspects of watches! Unfortunately, I think $800 is a bit steep; but with that, you’ll know you’ll get a timeless watch!

I spotted this in a bond film - think it was on Roger Moore’s wrist (googled yes it was in live and let die 😎)

I remember seeing that movie in the theater as a kid & thought it was the coolest thing. Afterwards, I asked my father if I could eventually get one & he just laughed (it cost more than any Rolex at the time).

·

Yeah Griffy is where its at.

As someone who has 3 of the original Pulsars, I had to pick the original model w/the red display when it 1st came out. It is pricey, but, as others have pointed out, the build quality is great (good water resistance, etc.) & the movement is good, though not HAQ (high accuracy quartz) like high-end Citizen & Seiko. I'm not a fan of butterfly clasps, but that wasn't a dealbreaker for me. You do have to push on the button longer to activate the display than you do on the originals, which causes a slight delay, but that's the price of having the hybrid OLED-LCD display that's more energy efficient & works in daytime.

I like wearing it on rainy days, etc., when I don't want to risk damaging 1 of my vintage P2s.

I also have the Armitron & Bulova Computron (w/blue display), which are fun, too.

No, you’re right. You have to push the button to see the display.

Shame you can’t share it! Maybe you should just get one for yourself and be twins! 😄

Red is mine, green is my friend's.

Don’t tempt me!

Why are there so few (if any) lux digital watches? I'd love true digital watches (no hands) but they are virtually all budget watches. I know there's some G-Shocks but they are too sporty and I know Tissot do a PRX. Casio should of an Oceanus which is out-and-out digital.

But why not, Jon? Hmm?

No, you’re right. You have to push the button to see the display.

Actually, unlike the original P2, you can read the PSR's LCD display in bright light (though it's not high contrast); pressing the button activates the OLED that lights up for darker conditions.

Oh, interesting! Thanks. 😃
