Tokyo Homage Hunt

I found a watch store near Shinjuku station, Tokyo. They have everything I could ever wanted!

A wall of GShocks! I wish my house was like this!

Hellrrrrrro Grrrande Seiiiko

OrientStar! My favorite. 5 years ago I gave an OrientStar to a friend of mine. He is not a watch enthusiast. I regret giving him that. He just shoved it in a drawer, never to be seen again. I regretted giving away my OrientStar!!!

Image

Regular Orient. I have alot of these already.

Image

Citizen Tsuyosa!! Looks like things are in stock!!!! So tempted. But my mission today is to get a Homage. Sorry Citizen fans

Seiko, about time~~~

Awesome pictures. I miss Japan.

Amazing finds in Japan. Exchange rates are still pretty good. That roulette looking watch is unique. Did you find it in the same shops?

Exchange rate is awesome right now. Come again

·

That was a fun ride along. Nice to see someone actually hunting for a genuine homage 😂 and having fun with them. Enjoy!

·

That was awesome. Just got home form Tokyo a couple of weeks ago, wish i would have found this! Congrats

Yeah. I found the roulette in the same shop

How much was the roulette watch? I blew my Japan watch budget already. Might have to choose between splurging on gachapon machines or a minor watch purchase 🤣

I am thinking about it. I lived in Tokyo for 4 years and moved back to the states in April. I started my watch journey while living there, and Tokyo has to be one of the best cities in the world to be a watch fan. There are shops everywhere.

Yeah. Well. Thats what you get for getting an unique design :p

·

God, I miss that place. Especially during Christmas season. I loved that you could go to a place like Yodobashi and find Casios& Seiko to Grand Seikos & Mont Blancs

·

Wow! What a great selection of watches, and it looks like you had a fun visit there! Although I'd really geek out on the Grand Seikos (first 🙂) I'd be equally curious about the Orient Star models as I'm not as familiar with all of them.

Regardless, I'll have to live vicariously through your photos because I'd be jeopardizing my marriage if I had to break it to my wife I've bankrupted the family finances with my watch spending at only one (amazing) watch store 😀. Thanks for sharing!

·

I just realized I know nothing about the city I live in lmao nice finds! The shop in first photo is called Yodobashi. Yodobashi and Bic Camera are chain electronic stores that carry these Japanese brands and offers them at much lower price than MSRP (for your next trip here in Japan)

·

This is the exact store I bought my grand Seiko at!

Awesome !!! I’m making my list of watches to get from Japan, my daughter will be studying there for I think 3 weeks next year and they will be traveling to Ginza so I told her to bring my credit card and look for these pieces and do not go home without getting them all lol….

You should go and visit her and that shopping yourself!

Did you go Barooque? I would if I were to buy all that stuff! 🤑😁😂😅

unfortunately I didn’t. Next time

I believe I went in this store in August. Can you see Tokyo Government Building if you turn left? The choice was overwhelming for watches. Unfortunately only Seiko's were in my budget.

Yeah its close to the Tokyo city hall government building

Tokyo is awesome. I bet it was so much fun hunting your watches. Next time I go, I want to find a place that sells vintage Japanese watches. Any idea?

Unfortunately I don’t know where to get vintage watches.

·

I had been in Tokyo as well, years ago .. I got this one

They had a bunch of Orientstar models for sale.

The one I gave awya was an OrientStar Heritage Gothic. They had it on the shelf.

Image

I also have an Orient Outdoors. They have a couple of these there too

Cool OrientStar & Outdoors watches. I have an Orient Defender, and it's a great watch, but I've always been intrigued by the OrientStar line. Thanks for sharing!
