GMT with diver bezels under $1500

Hi everyone! My collecting is mainly driven by the principle of the trio: dress, everyday, weekend. If i rotate, it would be on the type of watch for the type of day, and so it goes. I've been having a hard time figuring out what i want my weekend watches to be, but then it came to me: a GMT diver (or enough to swim with). I live several time zones away from my family, I enjoy cooking and doing outdoor activities and weekends are specially for that.

I am looking for your recommendations on GMT divers, quartz, mechanical, automatic, doesn't really matter. All I want is to be able to tell with a glance on a weekend what time is at home while also knowing how long I put my timer for the rest of the hike/weekend activity. Water resistance is clearly a need, but if it covers 100m I guess it doesn't have to be a diver, as long as I can swim with it. It does need both a second time zone at the same time as some way of a timing device of any sort. I thought about just going for a G-Shock 5600 with the different time zones but it has been a little bothersome to have to press the tiny buttons to change between my local time, home time and countdown/timer.

Thank you all for any ideas on what I could find! Both pictures are of the only GMT divers i know that fit my criteria Lorier Hydra III and Bulova Oceangrapher GMT.

If you don't mind microbrands and mostly caller GMTs there's plenty of choices for $1500 and under. Maen Hudson GMT (https://www.maenwatches.com/collections/hudson-38-gmt), Jack Mason Strat-O-Timer (https://jackmasonbrand.com/collections/the-strat-o-timer-collection-1), Wise ADX- True GMT (https://wisetimepiece.com/collections/adamascus-adx-true-gmt), Traska Venturer GMT (https://www.traskawatch.com/products/venturer-gmt-bottle-green), Baltic Aquascape GMT(https://baltic-watches.com/en/collections/aquascaphe-gmt) and many more.

Hope this helps.

Sadly all of these have 24hr bezels. I'm looking for gmts with divers bezels to be able to time things

Here's Alpina Seastrong Diver GMT. You need to look around because I'm not well versed on which stores stock these babies because they also have quartz models.

@TalkingDugong named a few.

I personally can wholeheartedly recommend the Lorier Hydra SIII.

There is also always the Seiko Mod route too.

I'm sure @Ichibunz and @Mr.Santana can chime in with more expertise on that front.

A bit of a left field suggestion here. I'm keying in on the phrase "outdoor activities" for this one:

The G-Shock GW-9400 Rangeman.

https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/product.GW-9400-1/

It has you covered from anything from hiking, swimming, scuba diving, to anything else you can think of. World time, of course. One-touch stopwatch. Specific functionality around hiking. And probably the nicest tactile buttons of any G-Shock.

Its a boss of a watch though. A real statement piece of kit. Probably the only G to be run over by a truck where I'd be checking the truck for damage...

It also has the advantage of being way under your budget. So you could keep the extra grand in your pocket. Or, ya know, buy another watch to boot! 😎

I’ve been looking for something similar. Check out the Nodus Sector Dive GMT. It’s on my short list

·

Personally waiting for Lorier Hydra Zulu restock....

·

Mido's Ocean Star GMT range fits the range. Diver bezel. 200m WR.

I love the way that Bulova Looks but the Lorier is like half the price. It would have to be a big decision on my part to justify the extra cost. I don’t dive or travel but I do like the way both look and function. Good luck.

·

These are both very beautiful. If I had to chose I would go with the Lorier. The date seems better integrated, the colors blend stunningly and I think it would be finished to a higher standard than the Bulova. That being said the Bulova is gorgeous too!

·

I'm partial to the Bulova, but both watches pictured are fantastic.

·

What @kudokun said. However, @TalkingDugong named some bangers.

·

Easy answer, but one of these, the Batavi Kosmopolite

Serica!

·

If that Bulova fully lumed dial Oceanographer came on a bracelet, I'd be all over that thing. What a gorgeous watch. I also think the Lorier is a banger and given it does come on a bracelet, that's a watch I'm currently considering purchasing.

There's also the Seiko Scubamaster SBCW003 if you're up for managing a kinetic movement. They may be a bit tricky to find, but they're out there.

Longines Hydroconquest GMT is another option.

The Bremont Supermarine (V1) S302 meets your description (other than the budget of course, but I'm including this for anyone who wants a watch that meets this description).

S302 – Bremont Watch Company (US)

One caveat - the prior generation S302 has a timer bezel, but the current one doesn’t.

(Edit - sorry, missed the V1 notation!)

·

I've also been wondering about watches, other than the Hydra, that are GMTs with a dive-time bezel. I think this combination is surprisingly practical, as it provides you with the 24-hour GMT function, a date window, and the ability to time things via the bezel. In the right package, a compelling combination of utility.

Correct. That’s why I was clear to denote V1 in my description. I think the watch lost a lot of its coolness factor with this change.

·

How about the Stührling Meridian GMT despite its 24hr bezel or is that a deal breaker?

Sadly all of these have 24hr bezels. I'm looking for gmts with divers bezels to be able to time things

If it has a 120 click bezel and a triangle at the 12/24 you can still use it to time things and it gives you a lot more options. This is another option (solar)

Or this but it's a big boy

The Dive GMT might be my favorite watch type (well, a Dive GMT Chrono probably would probably top it, but they’re not that common), and is the only one I have two of

Though it’s a bit out of the price range you list, my personal favorite is my Omega Seamaster Pro 300M GMT in blue, which I’ve had for over 13 years now. It’s surprising that Omega hasn’t brought back a new version yet of it, to be honest.

I have the Seiko Solar Sumo GMT (SFK001) that others have mentioned. It’s great, but it’s big. Given the number of automatic GMT’s that Seiko has made this year, I think it’s likely that they’ll put this movement in one of those cases. So if the Solar Sumo GMT isn’t for you, I be surprised if there wasn’t a smaller solar Dive GMT’s available in the near future from Seiko or someone else.

Sumo GMT solar. True GMT👍

A solid option is the Mido Ocean Star GMT:

Another option is the Yema Superman 500 GMT. There is also a Pepsi version of this watch, if you are into hommages.

Got this in December and it’s one of my favourite watches. The finishing is superb and it’s a joy to wear

I've been looking for the same thing and the number one on my list so far is the Charlie Paris Concordia GMT.
