2022 SOTC - My five piece watch collection

Here’s my 2022 SOTC post as I have just bought my final piece for the year.

I have always tried to keep my collection to five pieces, as I feel like that’s a good number for me to still give all watches wrist time. I'm really happy with the current state of the collection!

From left to right:

IWC Spitfire Chronograph - Bought while on holiday with my girlfriend in South Africa. Love the bulky pilot watch feel of this one.

Oris Aquis Tungsten (1st gen 40mm) - Took me a while to find this particular one, but was able to get in while on a citytrip in Germany with my girlfriend. Man does she have patience with me..

Image

IWC Mark XV - The perfect everyday watch for me, on an amazing bracelet. My favourite out of the Mark series and my most worn watch.

Image

Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical - Who doesn't like one of these? The adventure watch that just always does it's job perfectly.

Image

Casio World Time - The digital beater watch with more complications than you'll ever need!

As you can see I prefer tool watches, it’s just what I’ve always liked. I used to 'check boxes' when collecting, but have since realised there's no need to do so. I've also grown to like bracelets more than I used to.

Keen to hear what you guys and girls think of my collection! What would you do differently and which one's your favourite?

Thanks for reading!

Great photo and great collection!

Lovely little collection. What has your experience been with the spitfire chronograph? I've been toying with either that or a Big Pilot 43.

Thank you! My experience with the Spitfire Chrono has been great so far. It’s got a very utilitarian look to it and has lots of character.

Nice choices!

At some point I need to get to a main 5 or 6 watch rotation and then sub one of my others in once in a while.

Yours is great.

Great watches 👌I especially love that Mark!!

·

A great collection! I own the Casio Royale and the Hamilton. I really like the Oris and the bracelet on that IWC?

I'm not a chronograph person so I would probably replace that with another diver!

·

Looking pretty good, that IWC Fliegeruhr is my favorite.  Sent mine away a long time ago.

·

Very nice

·

Hamilton is just gorgeous

I think its a perfect set of watches to live with on the daily. curious, whats the MK XV got that made you favour it over the other MK watches? Im considering a xii, xv and xx

For me the Mark XV was the last of the series staying true to the heritage of earlier models. This due to the smaller case size and handset. I chose the XV over the XII simply because I prefer 38mm and this bracelet.

Yeah this is a pretty solid collection of almost all types. The ORIS is my fav. I’ve only read about this model, never seen on an actual person. Well done.

·

Great collection !!

I really love this IWC Mark XV 😉

·

Great catch that Oris! Get a GMT (chose a dressier one like GS) and you are the winner!

That’s actually a great suggestion!

·

Casio is King... Also, that grey dial on the Oris looks fantastic! You don't see grey too often, which is a shame.

Love that Mark XV. Trying to find a good specimen (on bracelet) myself. If you weren't in Belgium, I'd ask where you tracked that beauty down.
