Cartier tank must or dumont?

Dear lovely watch community. I got my mind set on a dress watch from Cartier.

My issue is that I cannot decide between the dumont and the tank must. The tank is more dressy and timeless imo, but the doumont is more versatile as it is the middle sibling between the dressy tank and the sporty santos de Cartier.

The tank would be killer on so many different shades of suede straps green, blue, red… the dumont on the other hand could also be worn on some stylish rubber straps. (Like the delugs in the pic)

I am seeking other watch geeks opinion on this. And also if someone already owned one of the these 2 watches I’d like to know the long term review or pros and cons. 🤙🏻

With either of the two you are fine, just think that the Santos is sportier and you can use it on more occasions than the Tank, so I would go for the Santos and look for the combo that comes with the bracelet and the leather strap

·

We all love both watches and will not put anything against you for any choice other than the tank. Tank or go home! Lolll

·

Santos, the original.

More versatile as a daily.

·

I would go with the tank 😍

·

I would go with the tank, it lends to more casual than the DuMonde

·

Doumont

·

Both

·

I like the Tank better. Its Classic, cooler and timeless, and looks amazing on that green strap (love green myself)

Not loving the Santos on the rubber 🤷🏼‍♂️

It very much depends on you personal style - do you wear a more dressy attire on a more casual sporty style

·

I'd go for the Dumont first as it's easier to wear, but ultimately you need both!

·

I would choose the Santos, it's actually my grail. It's more versatile than the Tank, which is solely a dress watch, the Santos is sportier and have a more everyday feel, in my opinion.

·

Tank - thank me later

·

Santos anyday 🔥🔥

·

Tank you, tank you very much.

·

The santos will hug your wrist more than the tank. Tanks fit better the smaller they are, so if you try them both on start small and get larger not the other way. Medium is money for both!

·

The Tank. Chose the Tank. 👍

·

Agree. Santos can pass off as both but imo it’s a sporty watch primarily. If you’re looking for a primary dress watch - tank it is.

·

Tank for me, but you can’t go wrong with either choice.

·

I was never a one watch collection person. Versatile is not an attribute I look for in a watch. I look for a watch to match a particular scenario. Specialist if you may. Not a jack of all trades. Tank for dressier occasions for me. I have enough pieces for sportier circumstances. What counts to you I guess. You won't go wrong with either. 😉

Both

I like your thinking

·

I’d go with the tank, if the versatility is not that important. Guess it depends on what else is in the collection

That. Is a tough question. Picked up a Tank Must for my wife, which I wear every now and then, about two months ago. Great watch.

Let us know what you decide…and pics when you get it!

That looks amazing! What size is it?

·

A large. On my 6.75 inch wrist.

·

Tank 👍🏻

·

Save your money and get the Tank instead use savings get a sports watch to go with it

·

Tank..... no doubt about it.

·

Tank, which I think is just as versatile. T-shirt and jeans, tank works. Tux? Tank works. (To be fair so does the Santos.)

·

Dumont

·

Well. Both of these watches are so classic, I think you could pull either one off with varying strap selections. That said, the Dumont may be a little more of a versatile choice. I'm seekign both myself so I can't really advise against either!!! 😢😀

·

@AndreCance11 curious where you landed on this? Tried both on yesterday and having a similar debate. The Tank seemed more captivating but a bit awkward on the wrist (straps definitely need breaking in) while the Dumont looked excellent in the hand but a bit big and muted on my wrist, the strap seemed to accentuate its width as well.

I’d go with the Dumont 👌🏼
