I’m trying to decide on a new watch to wear at my wedding. I’d like it to be dressy, but doesn’t need to be ridiculously small. I’m considering a square or rectangular Cartier or a Panerai Radiomir Quaranta. What do y’all think? What else should I consider? Budget is under $10K.
Wearing a watch with formal wear (read: tuxedo) carries a bit of a sense of “I’ve got somewhere else to be” with it. Especially at your OWN wedding why would you need a watch? I know lots of people wear watches at events like this, but I don’t get it.
Why would you wear a watch at a wedding? Is it informal?
To be clear, the dress at this event will undoubtedly not pass muster with 1930s editor of Vogue, fastidious arbiters of decorum, or the British royal family. So to answer your question, it is not formal as those groups may define it.

Yes, totally understand your point and hear you on that. But frankly, I’m looking to indulge in a small amount of wrist bling…

Yeah it's totally fine - I just come from a "1930s editor of vogue" category of black tie goals. The events are rare enough in my silicon-valley-engineer lifestyle that I go for getting as back-to-basics as possible. :-)
And if it really came down to it - I'd get a Reverso, which isn't one of your choices, but any excuse to get something hecka fun is always welcome.

I went from a “business formal” workplace to an extremely casual one and definitely understand your point of view. For us anyway, a formal wedding doesn’t make sense. But we still want to look good ;-)

If it's a second marriage, you might go with a pre-owned watch?
Junghans Meister
A Reverso would look nice
To me the Classiest would be a JLC Master ultra thin moonphase.
Rolex Cellini Moonphase ?
Love a tank but everyone wears one ! Panarai ! Be different!

A watch completes a gentleman's outfit. That is why.
A good minimalist watch would be nice just not mvmt or spageti smareti(dont know the name)🙃
Maybe sea-guol
The panerai would be a statement piece, which is why I picked it.
How about a nice pocket watch?
JLC Reverso
Cartier tank XL mechanical in house movement, black strap, white dial. Here in Canada with zero discount well under 10k before 13% HST

I love mine, it’s been all over the world with me. It goes just fine with dress attire, IMHO.
Santos, Rolex Wimbledon, or grand Seiko would be my choice, but it's your day so enjoy and congrats
