Trade or keep?

I'm considering trading my Rolex Milgauss with an Explorer I 39mm. My Milgauss has not seen much wrist time in months and it might be time to flip it. I've never owned an Explorer I and the 39mm is a good size for my 6.5 wrist. I still enjoy looking at the Milgauss because of the ⚡️ sec and its quirkiness. Any thoughts trade or keep?

What I love about watches is that you can fall in love with a watch, then fall out of love, and trade it in without any issues at all.  Then, you might feel seller's remorse, and you can easily re-buy.

If only romantic relationships were that easy, huh?

Tough call. How much cash with the Explorer? On one hand you have a Milgauss, which is one of the cooler Rolex’s IMO. The Explorer is cool, but also very easy to get especially now, so $3k on top of the Explorer would be a reasonable ask if not through a dealer, perhaps even $4k. Straight up trade, absolutely not.

I voted to go for the trade.   If you had the blue dial milgauss that would change things for me though.

I'd get the Explorer if it were me. I just like the design language better. I mean the lightning bolt sec hand is cute and all, but the 39 exp is a grail watch for me.

While I don't own either, the white-dial Milgauss ref 116400 is my personal fave version of the Milgauss and I also think it is more interesting than the Explorer 39. Both the Explorer 39mm and the white-dial Milgauss are discontinued but the Milgauss has much more value on the secondary market. So, if you are interested in a trade no way should it be an even swap. You should be getting more out of the Migauss.

i would keep hold of that white dial mate. long term you'd be better of

Sell the Milgauss and buy a Grand Seiko or a JLC.

Hehehe, if it was only that simple. 😄

It was a straight trade with a friend but I'm still unsure. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice the Explorer does look good on the wrist.

I know the Milgauss is polarizing, you love or hate it.

Same here, the white sang to me the most. I might just keep it and save up for an explorer.

Yikes, in that case no way. You are getting the short end of the deal by about $3k. You’d do better by selling the Milgauss and buying a new Explorer through an AD and you‘ll have extra cash in your pocket.

But will he live long enough to get one through the AD?

Get another, they are so much cooler than the hype brand.

·

Sorry but all honesty that Milgauss is ok but not my cup of tea trade it or sell it get something more hype or classy.

·

The Explorer is nice but so is your Milgauss!!! It definitely seems more rare than the Explorer…I would keep it! IMO the Explorer also looks better in the 36mm case size, especially for your 6.5 inch wrist.

That’s just my opinion—you do you!

·

I understand the cool factor and kind of inside-baseball kinda vibe of the Milgauss but for me I would say trade to an explorer - I just absolutely love the Explorer’s dial 💪🏼

Watches should be worn, so you’re ready to flip the Milgauss or are you? Personally I’d want both, however if you’re ready to flip then a combination of feedback above is the way to go. @Rolexahoma is right on the money 🎯and @ezpzCA on size is smart advice. Personally I think you’ll find the Explorer case so much more comfortable to wear than the Milgauss case because the Milgauss is chunkier and can feel top heavy in comparison to the Explorer. Good luck.
