Favorite GMT?

I’d like to get a gmt in prep for an overseas trip this summer. What are your favorites that are under or around $2k USD?

Explorer 2 is a someday and not today watch.

Thanks!

Seiko5 SSK GMT

Good choice!

I really like my Christopher Ward Trident, and although it’s no longer available their new model looks very good too. If you’re willing to go used, the Seiko Credor Pacifique is a traveler GMT that can be had for $2K or a bit less. Just watch out regarding the bracelet. It is integrated and you have to ensure you get one with the size for your wrist. Good luck!

Really appreciate the feedback! Credor looks incredible!

The Citizen Series 8 GMT, Jack Mason Stratotimer and other Miyota-based watches are nice, affordable, travelers’ GMTs. That makes them more convenient for traveling among different time zones.

That Bamfird is nice

And looks oh so nice! Thanks for sharing!

I'm partial to diver-GMT combos myself - the TAG Aquaracer Professional and Muhle Glashutte Seebattallion come to mind:

@SpecKTator is right, of course, to lead with Seiko SSK GMTs. Also a fan of their latest Seiko 5 Field GMT (technically also SSK but really like the JDM SBSC version-white dial!)

But a few others keep me looking.

Nodus Sector GMT Pacific, for me

Nezumi Aviera GMT

And for a true traveler GMT movement

Zelos Mako 300M GMT

How bout the Farer lander 4

Beauty with a sellita movement 👍🏻

You might be able to find a Longines Zulu Time on the second hand market for close to that.

Just looked it up - the teal/dark blue combo one does look cool!

Not just my favorite GMT...but my favorite watch of all. I had the Rolex 1655 it homages back in the 70s and loved the look of it. But when the value got just plain STUPID, I let it go. I paid $850 in '78. Sold in 2008 for over $20,000.00.

This homages it beautifully, and is a BETTER watch than the old Rolex in many ways. I love it.

It is an OLKO Special Edition of the Steinhart Vintage Ocean GMT. They are often sold out, but a little persistence pays off and you can get one for UNDER $600!!! (if you're not paying the EU VAT tax).

Very nice indeed! You can't argue with the specs or the price!

You need to specify which type of GMT. Travelling or desk. You have put up pictures of desk GMTs but the Explorer 2 is a travelling GMT

Apple 15 Pro and a normal watch :) OR a calculator!!! $30 bucks for a good one ! I love a E2 polar dial so I am just a grumbling smart arsed old guy with a mouth full of sour grapes 🍇 😂

·

I know OP said GMT…but if you can get a world timer within budget (2k)…

Farer Worldtimer Roché II.

But also very fond of the CW C63 GMT:

I can recommend the C63. It's an awesome watch! I sold my white dial you have there to fund my C60 Solaris.

I regretted the sale, so when I had the chance to be involved in a Christopher Ward commission limited edition, then I jumped on it. I am getting the orange dial 'Sunset'. This image shows the badder, but I am changing to the consort as I tried on the blue with a Consort at the British Watchmakers Day and loved it.

If I were you I would get the blue, it's stunning! I'll post that up shortly too.

Here is the blue C63. Such a beaut!

I built mine but you can use a dive bezel to mark you home time 12 position too. Jomashop has some great deals on GMT's.

I have the Bamford GMT, it's great.

Love the GB piece!

Consider this Nezumi?

It's a Swedish microbrand. I've had it for a couple of months. Mine has the recently upgraded movement. Very well put together and attracts a lot of comments from my non watch mates.

Oh and it's under 500 quid!

I like it!

I’m agnostic. I like both.

Oops, there goes the budget. 🤣

Budgets and watch collecting don't really mix 🤣 Being a bit presumptious though, depreciation for the TAG especially puts it close enough to the $2k range to make it worth holding out a little longer for imo.

There's also the gorgeous Bulova Wilton GMT for something a bit more dressy (and much cheaper):
