Any thought regarding Junghans Max Bill Automatic Sapphire Crystal ?

I have looking to add Junghans Max Bill Automatic with Sapphire Crystal into my collection. Anyone have experience with the watch and brand?

Junghans is a well respected brand. I had a Max Bill with acrylic years ago and there was an imperfection that cast an awful reflection onto the dial. It was so bad I had to return it. Sapphire should be must better at resisting scratches and dings.

Thanks you for your input. Will you still get one with sapphire if you are in the market or do you have any suggestion ?

Less is more . Max is a good pick

I have a couple but both quartz and I love both.

The Junghans Max Bill was my first "serious" automatic watch! Absolutely no regrets.

Saw my buddy (who got me into watches) wear a Quartz version and the simple elegance and that beautiful domed crystal got me interested.

When I saw the Automatic version with that same beautiful domed sapphire crystal, you could say it was love at 1st sight? But thought about it and researched the watch and brand for 1 month before pulling the trigger.

I confess I don't wear it as often anymore in my rotation of watches, but when I do wear it? Good feelings!

Oh and that sapphire crystal? Still flawless and maintaining those beautiful domed curves!

Unpretentious and elegant!

Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Absolutely love mine, my partner has the kleine version (34mm) as well.

I love these watches. I don’t own one, sadly, but if I had the budget and the space, I would get the Max Bill today. Right now. Ugh, I need one…

·

Love them. the straps are a bit 'meh', but easily fixed 😄 I have the dubiously named Max Bill 'MEGA Solar', as a reference for setting other watches (it's a self-correcting atomic clock radio receiver). Looks great on an aftermarket milanese mesh bracelet, and utterly low key, whilst astill being beautiful.

·

I Tried on them many times but never bought one. Too much watches. Il like the manual wind arabic dial the most. It is a great one and classic design. You won't regret it.

·

My Junghans is one of my birth year watches (1950). Runs great and looks great, IMHO. I think you can expect to get 73 years out of your new Junghans as well; I certainly hope so.

It is smaller in the wrist, it is +10spd. My Max Bill have red

test it on your wrist - it wears larger than its size

Thank you

It's the style of minimalist that all fashion brands try to emulate but fail. It's a great watch!

I would consider it if I was still in the market. The Max Bill is pretty nice but I’d look at Nomos or Stowa.

I am also considering the nomos 👍

I love my Junghans. I have the Meister Chronograph, it’s gorgeous on the wrist and super reliable. And looks like it was designed by a crazy German science teacher

·

Great watch the max bill, I would go with the sapphire crystal

Two points to consider if you're comparing Junghans to Nomos:

  1. Nomos have ridiculously long lug length, so factor that into your consideration for how it will fit and look on your wrist.

  2. Nomos use an in-house movement compared to the Junghans which uses a base ETA. Even though in-house is marketed as better, there is a HUGE advantage to Junghans using the base ETA which is you won't have to send the watch to Germany every time you need to have it serviced.

This article on Hodinkee might have some interesting points for you to consider as well. Be sure to check out the comments discussion on the article as well for more observations/opinions.

I own the Max Bill reference 027/3502.02. Absolutely love this watch, couldn't be happier. Many people categorize this watch as a "dress watch," but the only reason I can see this is due to how thin it is. Given its highly legible dial, I like it as a casual watch on the dressier side.

Nomos is nice but it wears bigger than the dial size indicates cause it has longer lugs.

Love my Max Bill, I got the acrylic crystal, being true the original

Beauty and classy in the same time

They sell them at the MoMA Design Store and I can’t help but stare at the display model for a while whenever I’m in the area.

·

I love the design and the thinness. I also had imperfections under the crystal. I send it in for warranty, they replaced the crystal and got it back about 5 weeks later, looking perfect. I enjoy wearing it to the office occasionally when I want to feel creative. The crown is difficult to turn on this watch (not sure if it’s just my watch or for all of the Max Bill Automatics). Runs about +5 seconds per day. It puts a smile on my face.

It’s sound awesome … which crystal you have on the watch?

I oppose the slow insidious creep of minimalist postmodern design in horology. Or something. Junghans design language is not my thing

Totally understandable 👍
