Goodbye Yacht-Master II

who's crying? You? nah. You're not crying.

I think this is the only one that hit the chopping block eh?

The 36 mm datejust palm dial was chopped, I liked that one as a fun piece. The 100th anniversary Daytona also, but that was to be expected.

Oh yeah the palm and motif. I liked that motif dial a lot ✌🏻

I’ve seen one of these in person and it’s a very pretty thing…but also completely unintelligible to anyone without a master mariners license. I can’t imagine they sold many year over year.

Yeah my feeling when I woke up was “well there goes my yacht racing career!” 😜

Wasn't the white gold Daytona also discontinued?

Yes. You’re right they replaced that with the yellow gold LeMans

I'm surprised to see the gilt dialed black bay no longer on the website

The Yachtmaster II was my go-to watch if I wanted to make fun of over-the-top watch designs. Now I have to look for something else ...

·

I really think this is one of the ugliest watches in existence, there are Invictas and Hublots that in my eyes that look less revolting than the Yacht Master II.

So it's discontinuation is good news to me.

Clearly you don’t own a yacht. Because my club is devastated. It clearly shows the decline of our sport and the only watch that truly was accurate and rugged enough to withstand a yacht start…which for you peons is when we have to start the vessel moving behind the line and time it specifically to hit the start line at the exact moment of the starter gun. Clearly. You don’t understand the true engineering genius of this watch. I’m hoping for a limited edition of these watches for sport specific purposes.

So enjoy your explorers (even though I doubt you climb mountains) and your coffee themed watches. But for us true sportsmen. This is a sad sad day

I’m more amused by people gloating over discontinued models, it’s baffling.

My name is <insert any WC user who’s ever moaned about not buying a Rolex from an AD>, you killed my [opportunity to buy a Rolex model from an AD at RRP by discontinuing the model I’m gloating over]; prepare to die.

Thank you. Here is a photo from our last meet up (we already knew they were discontinuing the watch)

I’m not a massive Rolex guy but it’s funny because the Yacht Master is one of my two favorite Rolex designs… and the Yacht Master II is my absolute least favorite.
