How do y’all feel about Yema?

An ad for the new Yema Superman popped up on my IG feed. I think this watch looks great and I’m loving the colorway! But aside from that, I see more cons than pros online where quality is concerned. Just wanted to see what everyone’s opinion was on the brand. Thanks for any insight!

You tend to hear less from people satisfied with their purchases. People who are unhappy want others to know. (There will soon be some such comments in this thread.) I have two modern, automatic Yema watches that I purchased online from the Yema website. I have had absolutely no issues with either watch. Each functions within specification and without any quality control issues. I am satisfied and I would buy again...

...for the right price. I purchased both at steep discounts during sales. I think they are rather overpriced at their full retail prices for the product offered.

Thanks for the insight! That’s very true. This model is a limited edition. But I’m feeling $1500 is kinda steep haha

I own a few Yemas and never had a problem.

I have a couple from Yema. I have really enjoyed them. They have several models that I am considering for a future purchase.

I am not familiar with Yema but that is a great looking watch. You should buy it and then review it and let us know how great it is. 😉

Haha I cut myself off from purchasing any more watches this year. But when Jan 1st rolls around.. then maybe.. for research purposes 😂

I’ve not had much luck with the Yema’s I’ve had but that is a cracking looking watch. I’m not a fan of the bezel lock thingy, although I do recognise that it’s a feature of the superman design

·

Had a Flygraph, probably one of the worst made watches I've owned. Id put it on par with Vostok.

Hated it, utter shite- poor fit & finish, felt flimsy and wasn't consistent in its time keeping.

May have been a duff one, but wouldn't buy another Yema.

·

Holy sheet! I like this design!

·

I have a Yema Meangraf Rally... It a great watch.

I have been stalking that blue: white GMT!

I'm a fan of their designs and think that they're one of the more interesting smaller brands: different enough that they have a distinctive design language all their own, but not so different that it's off-putting. They have history (at least, as a zombie brand) and use that history to their advantage, imo.

For me, besides what would appear to be issues in quality control as well as some questionable thickness in some of their cases (for me), I agree that the pricing is a bit _ambitious_. I also don't like what appears like a lack of transparency - specifically, their calling every movement "in-house" when all they've done is added a custom rotor to an off-the shelf engine (is that a selitta? Who knows). It's about to be 2024, are watch companies really still playing these games?

But with a little tweaking, I think that this brand has much potential, and it's definitely on my personal radar.

I heard a lot of complaints concerning their customer service. While I like their designs, they don’t offer anything that I’ll purchase.

The power of advertising is strong. Let me know what you decide to do. I'm interested. Good luck.

Will do. Probably going to sit on it for awhile and see how I feel in Jan.

Smart. Let it marinate.

I believe they have a scheduled expedition with this watch this month. Might already be in progress

I wouldn't pay full price for this, so I'd wait for grey market or s big discount.

That sounds like a good plan.

That’s a very nice looking watch. Don’t have one though so I can’t say. I’ve seen comments about how the quality and customer service is bad but mostly from people that heard it was bad, the ones that actually own one mostly say they are great watches.

I think Yema is just one of those brands people love to hate. Another company people or at least the people doing reviews love to hate is car company Mitsubishi. They say it’s not reliable, not well made, lacking the amenities/technology of cars in its price range. An independent reviewer dug into this, and after looking at years of consumer reports/j d power surveys and other stats on reliability/quality, they concluded that Mitsubishi was a well made car and every bit as reliable as the other Japanese brands. It’s only problem was that auto journalists didn’t particularly care for it.

What am I saying? Yema probably as good as any watch out there (in its price range) and if you like that cool Superman, you should buy it.

·

I really like the look of them, especially the Superman. Never seen one up close those.

·

I’ve had no issues with my navygraf MN. Love it!

That’s funny you referenced Mitsubishi, my first car was an Eclipse. Loved that thing haha

·

What’s the price point on this model? People like watches with links to France.

·

#yema is a great watch company, I've been thinking about one to my collection

·

Asked the same question here, and only got positiv feedback.

Enough for me to get myself the Yema Urban Field 37,5mm and i am loving it!

Here to second @caktaylor. Have bought two Yema watches. Nothing wrong with the first but it wasn’t quite to my taste. Perfectly happy with the second.

Is Yema perfect? Of course not. There are things I’d do differently if I was in their design team. Are they improving? Absolutely, at a rate of knots.

They do have a habit of vetting customer feedback though, with constructively critical inputs never making it to their site. Trust Pilot it is not.

I own three modern Yema's and I too have not had a single issue re QC. The EU to UK delivery has also been like lightening.
