I bought my GS White Birch new on C24 from a Japan-based dealer (I am in the US) last month. Saved 33% off RRP. All went smoothly. I had tried on the watch at a local brick and mortar AD (where I had bought other watches and jewelry in the past). Gave them a chance to come close to the C24 price, as I would have loved to give them the business. They unfortunately would only give me 5.5% off RRP.
My Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Black Matte during the pandemic in 2020 chrono24 the experience was good It was bad when the watch arrived at customs in my country Mexico.
Bought my Citizen PMD56 on C24 because it's a JDM model. Hard to estimate regarding the MSRP between Yen and euros with all taxes and duties. But very satisfied of the whole search buy and shipment process.
I've purchased 2 Grand Seikos off Chrono24. Both were roughly $5k USD.
I didn't have any problems with Chrono24 or the sellers. The escrow service worked well.
I did have a surprise with one of the purchases, though, involving my credit card. My credit card company charged a foreign transaction fee even though Chrono24 made the sale in USD. Even though there was no currency exchange, my credit card company imposed a fee for the foreign retailer, because Chrono24 is not based in the US. I would not have used that credit card if I'd known there was a fee, so check your card terms first.
Sub $2k purchase of a Sinn 104 a couple of years ago. Higher than that and I want to buy at AD. If I'm spending significant $, I want a discount, free strap and to "enhance" my track record, so to speak 😜
Bought a grand Seiko quartz back in 2020. Sold a couple watches over $2k as well. I never really had any issues. The escrow system is great. The past 12 mos the amount of watches in general is down a lot. And the ones left are price inflated.
Breitling Aviator 8 Etihad Limited Edition for ~$5.5k new and unworn. Overall good experience. Communication was quick and negotiations were fair. The seller was a brick & mortar out of Abu Dhabi. The only annoying part was the customs clearance delay and paperwork. Delayed delivery by a few days.
Bought two watches on Chrono24, both overseas transactions and this was my latest purchase. Omega Speedmaster Ref 3220.50 full set was from a Japan dealer, came within a week from ordering and “very good” condition was spot on.
I’ve also sold one watch on Chrono24 and the transaction was really smooth and payment was quick.
Bought my Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow using C24. Not a bad experience and I made sure I was not going to get stung for additional tax and import duty by sending the watch to a friend who then brought it out for me, as we both work in the same country (which is different to country of purchase) 😉
Just purchased my SBGA443 from a Japanese dealer on Chrono24. Exceptional service 👍
Generally speaking, buying the seller is a safe way to go. I’ve purchased from trusted sellers on WUS, OF, and TRF, everything from 16570 to 3861 Speedy. All great experiences and wouldn’t recommend going brick-and-mortar unless that’s a strong compelling reason.
Interesting! I’ve always seen that c24 prices are typically inflated. Thanks!
The prices are going to run the gamut, but I always browse Chrono and eBay and a few others to get a sense of market value . . . What is crazy vs what is fair etc. Def some great opportunities on Chrono but of course those watches don’t last long. Still kicking myself for not buying an Anordain model 1 Plum that was selling at retail price on Chrono which is a bit unheard of bc people know they can inflate price and be successful. While I was mulling it over someone else got it :(

May be a specific thing with Japanese watches and the $/¥ exchange rate, but I’m not sure.
Preowned model about 2 years old. In excellent condition. 40% off of MSRP. No issue buying it off of Chrono24
No. Octo Finissimo
Mate- out or curiosity, did you try this watch elsewhere before pulling the trigger on C24? Or were you counting on the 14 day return guarantee?
Thanks!

Nope, lots of reviews and then a handful of 'brave pills'

Oh! Why is that?
You’re a VERY bad influence. I love it!
I'm going down this rabbit hole and i'm dragging as many as i can with me 🤪
Thanks Charlie! Curious about why the budget depends on the seller? Is your threshold higher for a dealer? Or vice versa?

Most expensive was just under $800, but have spent over $2k total, and have had zero issues.

You can buy a watch on OnlyFans now?
*runs away laughing*

I can’t remember if it was chrono or eBay - but £27k ish on this little beauty:

Damn, that’s a banger! Mate its not often one would buy an aquanaut online. How did you ensure the seller was legit and the watch is authentic?

A mixture of “buying the seller” and I think.. probably it was eBay.. so I think it did go through the third-party middleman.
Yeah - it all worked out. Needed a service - but was a good bargain.
