Low-End Mechanical vs. High-End Quartz?

·

I would much rather have a high end quartz than a low end mechanical. Personally, all that matters to me is the finishing and the dial.

·

I personally think is what you can afford. I think is awesome that a person can buy a mechanical watch on the cheap and enjoy the hobby and same goes that you can buy a high-end quartz. Citizen watches made me love quartz especially those Pilot watches so quartz for me.

·

Mechanical for class and superior breeding (drinks his tea in a china cup with pinkie extended, hum hum hum). 😛

For accuracy and ease of wear, quartz.

·

If a quartz and a mechanical watch were offered for the same price, same case, dial, and finishing, I would probably pick the quartz watch.

·

mechanical for the wearing experience

which ever is prettier!!

Cheap Mechanical for fun if it, but if I’m going to buy a high end watch, I would want that to be quartz. High end mechanical watches may cost a lot to service!

·

I like the experience of winging and setting my watches, so generally I’m on the mechanical side but I have a few quartz watches I love. It’s a more nuanced question than just quartz vs mechanical when it comes to purchases.

·

Neither. I'd get a Certina COSC-certified quartz - though even a Precidrive one would do - and call it a day.

I've been collecting on purpose for just coming up to a year. My small but expanding collection is roughly one third mechanical and the rest quartz half of which are eco drives. I would profess to loving mechanical more but my purchasing does not reflect that!?
