Best watches for active military service?

I am an active member of the German army and I am collecting watches but I want to wear the watches wich I am collecting.

So I need some recommendations for some watches I can use at work.

I have many G-Shocks and I think they are great but I don’t need anymore of them, so please no G-Shocks 😅

Thanks to everyone sending recommendations!

Have you considered a Hamilton Khaki Field? I am not sure if they are shock resistant though…

Yes I have! Not the exact model but I definitely like the looks! 👍 Thank you!

The Canadian-manufactured Marathon is a military-spec watch I believe and very rugged!

·

CWC originally made watches for the British military but now sells to the public. They have mechanical and quartz options for some of their watches. I've thought about the Mellor 72.

Thank you! I will take a look at CWC! 👍

I wore a Suunto Core when I was in the Marines. I loved it at the time, but my tastes have matured since then. Now, I would recommend a Hamilton Khaki just like seikoboi said. Luminox is also an option, but they have VERY mixed reviews.

Thank you! I think the Suunto would be a little bit to big for my wrist. But I will take a look at Luminox, do you know any good model?

I had looked at the 3051.bo and really liked the price in the past. But, I wouldn't feel right recommending it to you since I've never actually owned it.

I'd recommend any of these! Thanks for your service and stay safe dude!

In no particular order,

Lorier Neptune

Elliott Brown Holton Pro

Helm Vanuatu

Momentum Sea Quartz

Seiko Fieldmaster Lowercae

Citizen Promaster Tough would be a good analog option...

I'll post up more later too but in the middle of library trip with the kiddo at the moment.

Thank you! Only heard good things about Citizen but never really considered buying one. But I will check out the Promaster!

Hi! Fellow military dude here! Gshocks aside in going to do the unthinkable here and recommend... smart watches

Garmin make great gshock like watches that you won't be afraid of damaging, retain the readability of digital plus the functionality of a smart watch. Great battery too. Pretty much every watch I see in combat is either a gshock or a garmin

Maybe this would work? Solar, neon illuminated, compass, altimeter, barometer and so on.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Elliot Brown watches??

Another specialist watch maker here in the UK producing timepieces directly for specialist branches of the British military.

Rick solid (bomb proof - look it up😳) and reasonably priced.

The Holton Professional is the “real deal”.

Agreed.

Oh so the compass is standard on the watch?

No amigo- that Casio is about as stock as a NASCAR race car… that has SuperLuminova, and the compass was canabalized from another cheap toy watch. I added it mostly for aesthetic purposes, I’m not even sure if it works or not, but it sure looks fun. I love taking these little plastic divers and souping them up and giving them to my buddies as beaters. They absolutely love them and for $27 and a little creativity, they make a fun arts and crafts style custom gift.

I was also going to recommend them. The CWC G22 is great pickup.

Sinn 104ST

Since you don't want more Gshocks, go with a Luminox or Marathon. Although If I where German like you, I'd probably choose a Tegimented Sinn

Sinn UX

Can you recommend a specific Sinn? 🤔

This one's a tank, is rated to 1,000 meters and is easy to read. It's a bit on the wide side but has lugs that curve down. https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/U1.htm

This one is black steel, looks cool as hell and is only 41mm in diameter. https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/U1.htm

Do you have experience with that watch?

Yes..recently I have purchased it Model No : Victorinox INOX 241744.1. It has proven qulaty checks also....You can find many videos regarding the quality checks for this watch on YouTube

Suunto Vertical could be good. It is made for journeys, camping and mountaineering.

It has the best battery on the market and is also recharged by sunlight. Looks very good imo.

Have you looked at MTM watches? Military inspired/grade out of LA. Good stuff.
