Your Favorite Rolex Everyday Watch from its Professional Line?

Rolex makes excellent tool watches that can be worn as everyday watches too. Submariner will likely be my first Rolex watch. I like the no-date version given the symmetry design on the dial. Yacht-Master looks almost identical to Submariner Date. I'll pass that one. Sea-Dweller or Deepsea may be an over-kill for an everyday watch. GMT-Master II is a beautiful watch too, and I particularly like the Batman version. However, its design is too similar to Submariner Date, and I find the dial a bit too busy. I'll skip this one too. I find the Air-King and Explorer a bit plain. On the other hand, Explorer II is amazing. It wears a bit too big for my wrist, but I may consider it in the future as my second Rolex. At last, Daytona is such a beautiful creation! But unfortunately, the version I like is the Panda. Unless the current hype on it will die down in the future, otherwise, it is almost impossible to get one at the official retail price. So, it is on the list of timepieces I want but not likely to own. By the way, I am not sure why the Sky-Dweller is part of the classic line rather than the professional line. I think any of these can be worn as an everyday watch. But among them which is your favorite? The maximum number of options that can be included in a poll is 4. If your choice is any other than the 4 options below, please feel free to leave a comment instead.

I'm biased and torn so I couldn't vote. Sub Date and Explorer II white for me. Both awesome.

I'm also in a similar situation. I like both the Sub and Explorer II, but while the Explorer II is just 1mm larger than the new Sub, due to its white dial (I like the white dial), it wears bigger than what the new Sub does. So, in the end, I put down my name with the Rolex Boutique for the Sub only. Not sure how long the wait will be.

What's your wrist size?

What's your wrist size?

About 16.5 to 17 cm roughly. 40mm is the perfect size for me. 41mm is still okay, but 42mm is a bit of stretch then.

I like the Yacht-Master 37’s a lot more than the Submariner, personally. The Maxi-style case just doesn’t do it for me, and I like the proportions of the 37mm case better than the larger ones or the Sub’s.

This isn’t a small watch bias - I wear everything from 34mm to 45mm - but for me, Rolex’s smaller cases work better than their larger ones.

·

GMT Master 2. But the new one with the black and grey bezel. More subtle than the other (if everyday). If not everyday the 2 tone or the batgirl

I just looked at the pictures but never tried the Yacht-Master on, as the Rolex Boutique did not have it in stock at the time. I think its bezel is a bit shiny. Is that right? How does it look in person?

Owning both, the No date and GMT 2, I prefer the No Date for everyday. But I don’t really wear them to much.

Yes, the Batgirl (or Batman?) is the best among all the variations of the GMT-Master II.

Yep, new Sub makes sense then. Hopefully you hear something soon. Good luck!

It's primarily due to the fact that the current Submariner (Date or No Date) isn't actually "41mm" it's more like 40.6mm and they just rounded up. As an owner of both - Sub Date and Exp II - and a wrist size similar to yours, I actually think Exp II will seriously be the better daily (and probably less wait time from AD compared to the Sub)

Oh.. I should look into this then! Thanks!

Explorer in 36mm…the way God, Hans Wilsdorf, and Gen Robin Olds intended it to be!

Okay, so I made that’s last part up. I’ve no idea if Robin Olds intended that. 😬

To be clear - the Yacht Master platinum-titanium certainly isn’t for everyone 😄

Here’s a photo I took of it on my wrist. Most of the bezel is matte, while the edges and raised numbers are polished. I think it’s pretty awesome, but - it’s certainly not for everyone.

The Submariner is just so recognizable to the point that even people that don't even know what a watch does know what it is. 😅 Gets my vote for that reason and that the Explorer I isn't on the list, not that I'm even sure if it should be.

I think a GMTM2 would be the most relevant to me, but for the Explorer 2, like Ash from “Alien”, “I admire its purity.”.

Just read the rest of your post. Oops. Laziness. I really like the 124270 Explorer. I wish it were 36 mm and not ~35.5 mm, tho its size does make it a more viable unisex option for many women.

Explorer is a nice watch. The style works well with the smaller size.

I already put my name with the Rolex Boutique for a Submariner (for myself) and a 36mm Oyster Perpetual (for my wife). The 36mm is the sweet spot that can work with both men and women. So, I and my wife can both wear the OP. As the OP looks a bit like the Explorer, that's why I want a more sportier watch for me, such as the Submariner or Explorer II.

But Explorer is indeed a good watch.

I went with the Yacht-Master 40 blue dial for my first Rolex. I love it 🥰 but get why people don't like it. It's a "blingy" Rolex and doesn't have the tool watch appeal.

I like mine. It is the five digit version from 2005 and still one of my favorite Yacht-Master versions. Although, I wouldn't mine to own the Rhodium dial one. Cheers!

The Yachmaster 40 wears VERY differently to the Sub, you should try it on and see — it won’t be redundant, however to me it’s a bit too flashy to be a daily. However the Sub and Batman will be redundant because in certain light the Batman’s bezel can appear almost all-black (the Pepsi won’t be redundant); ever since I got my Batman I’ve not worn my Sub, it sits in the safe and will be a gift to my brother for his 50th.

The previous gen Explorer II 216570 wore too large on my wrist, but the subtle changes made to the case of the 226570 make it wear well on my 6.75” wrist, though it’s at the absolute limit for me. The black dial version also looks visually smaller on wrist than the Polar.

My pick for the best everyday daily would be either the new black/gray GMT Master II or the Explorer II in black (I prefer GMTs because I travel a lot, else it would be the Sub).

Here’s both on my flat 6.75” wrist:

Thanks for the tips! Some other also told me the same regarding the Yacht-Master. Next time when I visit the Rolex Boutique, I'll ask if they have an exhibition piece in.

Both pieces look amazing, but in comparison, your Batman really stands out, as it goes very well with the color of your shirt in the picture! But given the vibrant color (at least as shown in the picture), it may not be good as an everyday watch though.

Thanks again!

I would much prefer any Rolex pre ceramic bezel to any of the modern ones bar the explorer one or two. The explorer at 40mm is the right size for me and the explorer two retains its tool watch look. I don’t mind the Black or white dial

Honestly, the only Rolex that appeals to me is the 36mm datejust.

·

It's definitely the GMT Master II for me. It's simply the most beautiful Rolex model ever made and my grail watch.

·

for me gang, Explorer II with the polar face, that's the one that I have always lusted after since my teens

·

My first was a Daytona. I got it new, unworn on the gray market, so I paid a little bit more for it, but have worn it as a daily and never regretted it. It is part of a rotation now that I have a few other Rolexes and other watches in my collection.
