The Perfect Collection!

I can finally say, “I have the perfect collection” There will be no more watch purchasing for me for the next 20 + years. haha 🤞🏼 crossed.

(Even though the Zenith here is the most expensive in this bunch, it has become the least favorite... It’s true more $ does not equate more joy… a beautiful watch nonetheless)

Seiko do some really beautiful 'square' watches don't they! I wish they used that shape more often. In fact I wish all makers would lol.

Stunning set of chonos

Great set👌. They look great together and I really like that Zenith.

Same here brother but the charm of the others is something nostalgic/exclusive

Love that collection. Those vintage Seiko Chronos have something specially about them that I don't think any swiss watch can touch.

If it makes you happy to believe this, then crack on. But you, me and the rest of this forum know the truth 😂

Ive got the A384 revival on alligator strap because the ladder bracelet felt poorly made. The chrono dial and movement is amazing.  If you didnt like it as much why did you spend for it in the first place? Zenith watches are not for everyone

haha that’s a good question. I still love the watch though - maybe it’s the bracelet for me.

yes and you understand it only when you’ve handled it in person

Curious what makes you say so confidently that you’ve managed the perfect collection for yourself. Would love to know your collecting mindset, where you started, and what you appreciate/love the most.

I’ve sort of made myself do a little spending freeze, but can’t say I’m happy to claim perfection with my current collection.

edit: Always wondered to myself about the pursuit of perfection and acceptance of imperfection and how we apply that to the choices we make in our little hobby.

Hmm, that’s a really good question… well I’ve been collecting watches for many years now, and of course like everyone here at WC, I’ve made rookie mistakes in the beginning of this hobby - such as, getting caught up in the hype, purchasing things rashly in ignorance etc etc.  And if I were to give you a surface, superficial answer I could say, “I spent certain amount of $ over the years and have acquired all these awesome watches, therefore, I am content…” as my reasoning as to why I won’t be buying anymore new watches for 20+ years.

But, to give you a deeper response… I guess the main premise of me being content with my collection has more to do with me (who I am and where I am mentally and spiritually), rather than the watches itself. Over time, I’ve come  to realize this noble passion of ours in collecting watches - is about enjoying life, and being in a healthy state of mind. When we are not healthy, when we are not joyful in life, how can we ever be satisfied with anything - with such monetary things? Watches, cars, etc. This noble hobby is about enjoying the journey, and enjoying the process. I believe that, If you are in a healthy place mentally and spiritually, you will naturally make healthy choices, healthy purchases… NOT purchasing to flex and to impress. As long as you’re joyful and content in life, there is no more a need to buy more things to fill our emptiness. As long as you love what you have, and thankful for what you have, isn’t that all that matters in this noble hobby? Sometimes, I look at my collection and I am blown away with the pieces that I have acquired over the years (my collection isnt that impressive compared to others) and it humbles me because, every piece that I have came with so much sacrifice and hard work.

Recently, I was able to gift my father an Omega Seamaster with the broad hands from the 90s. This was his first/luxury watch. He loves this watch, and he wears it EVERY SINGLE DAY - even to sleep haha! I also, gifted my mother a Cartier Santos for her 60th bday, and she wears it as her daily. This was their first real watch received as gifts (they are not watch fans) but being able to witness them wearing the gifted watches daily with  such joy - brings ME so much joy. And, If I am filled with joy, there is no more a need to fill my ‘emptiness’ with buying new watches. And to know that I will have these pieces once they pass (as heartbreaking and sad as that would be), to be able to keep these pieces with me -  in their memory after their passing - to me, is a BEAUTIFUL thing that cannot be replaced with any other monetary value…

I guess the best way to pursue this hobby of ours in collecting watches would be to:

1. Be grateful/content

2. Not grow jaded, spoiled, and arrogant

3. Enjoy the journey (the good & the bad) (taking  it slow)

4. Create beautiful memories with our current watches

5. Remain true to who we are (what we like & what we don’t like, not what others would like)

6. Not purchase to flex (should not be a stressful check list to check off at the end of the day)

Anyways, thanks brother for the deep question haha.

great collection🙏🏻🙏🏻

🙏🏼 Thank you brother

You've set out your watch strategy with your vintage Seiko collection. Just odd that you would try to move away with the Zenith thats much higher up and in a different segment. All the best with your collection.

Nice. I think I have to get into the habit of picking out the right watch for friends and family gifts, I like that level of fulfillment. Thanks, mate.

Thats a banger of a collection. Brilliant!! Read your long comment on why you decided that your collection is perfect for you, and I really liked that too. Enjoying the journey, being happy with what you have, and not flexing. All the best man.

What a collection - I hear you, as I’m getting older Less seems more. Quality over quantity is the way to go I think. Maybe a patek for one of the milestones? 😎
