Should I get a Studio Underd0g? And what is a fair price?

Love the Desert Sky V2. Love the Seagull chrono movement. Even love the stock strap. However SU sold out so quickly and units are over US$ 1000 on Chrono24 and EBay. Any idea when or how quickly SU restocks?

They’ve done a couple of restocks this year. They had an early access link at Windup in SF, too. Don’t pay over retail.

Thanks. I am going to try for retail for sure. I would rather support the brand than the very market.

Do you like it… yes… are you just buying to sell on…nah.

·

I want to own one, not flip them.

·

Cool… go for it.

They're awesomely cool watches, but wouldn't pay the awesomely sky high prices to the scalpers. Have a look on their website/media pages and sign up if you can and hopefully you'll get prior notification on their next release.

I am on their mailing list when they restock.

Out of interest how much are they? Have you looked at any vintage watches with a Venus 175 movement??

$500

$500

That’s is pretty reasonable… but if you look at vintage (the Venus 175 is column wheel chronograph.. solid. ) you might find you can get something cool for that money…

·

Call this one Scarface for obvious reasons… same movement. Same kinda money… if you know where to look.

Stick to waiting for the restocks, no need to be paying the scalpers. It's got a great looking dial with a cool and visible movement.

Retail is fair price. Keep an eye on Reddit, countless folks sell theirs for retail if you are patient enough.

I never would have thought of Reddit for watch swapping…

Watchexchange is one of the best places for secondhand. You can use watchrecon to search as well. It scrubs watchexchange, WUS, etc.

·

I love the look of that watch & unsuccessfully tried to get one in the relaunch last May. I then opted to buy the Strawberries & Cream when it came out.

It's a great watch for the money but once you start getting north of $1,000 for one, I'd say don't buy. For me it's not worth that kind of money unless it's going to be a watch you wear all the time.

·

Just a heads up that Studio Underdog had new colorway prototypes at WindUp San Francisco that they wouldn't permit the public to photograph so your choices may be expanding shortly.

·

yup

·

Sure, if you can get your hands on one.

·

I'd agree with the comments regarding waiting for the restock. I ordered my Desert Sky during a previous order window in mid September 2022, and received it the end of June, 2023. I'm also in Canada, and the total price, including exchange and all fees was just a couple bucks under $1,000 CAD.

·

Few of my friends got it. They love it!

·

Should you get one? If you like the look of it, yes. But do buy it from the maker, and not through some scummy scalper. Not only does it encourage them, but you don't 'need' it 'right now' so save money.

Woah, whut? Really? It has an ST1901? In that case, I love the fauxtina. Where can I get one?

Edit: oh you mean Venus 175.

·

I love em' all! I really wanted..and still do, the Watermelon. I just can't justify the price! I've finally talked myself out of them💸

·

not my cup of tea. i view it as swatch with bells and whitles. It's a joke of a design and have a feeling that the whole thing is a fad. I'm afraid it will pass and you will have spent a chunk of money on something that was a momentary hype. Having said that, if you like the looks of it, who am I to tell you otherwise. Personally, I'd get a german enry level luxury watch for the same money but... beauty is in the eye of...

I have a question boys 😌do people like more: to have a bulkier/bigger crown if the watch needs winding from time to time or a skinnier crown?

Like I would imagine if the watch is not automatic/manual if it is an actual QUARTZ watch with a battery then to have a skinnier crown kind of would make sense no? Because you would not need a more comfortable crown to wind it?

·

Its a nice watch. Well proportioned for it’s size/complication imo.

Don’t buy over retail - just be patient. They’re not going anywhere. I doubt he’ll cease production of this model/s when they’re doing so well

·

Absolutely love mine. The dial has incredibly intense colors, the strap is extremely comfortable and even if the watch is definitely on the thick side it wears really nicely.

Would definitely recommend buying it if you like it, but absolutely not for 1000$. I waited for a restock to get it for retail and it is a good price for it. I personally wouldn’t pay more to immediately fulfill the needs.. patience makes it worth more to me :)

You have to be mildly diligent, but I think that you can buy your preferred model at retail with a little patience. I own a watermel0n and I love it. It makes me smile every time I wear it.
