Where is your watch price “happy hunting ground”

I have watches from higher and lower price brackets, but I think £1500-£2500 (including available discounts) is where I personally find the most interest and value, and hence wrist time. Some of my real favourites and most worn come from this price range. An iconic diver like the Doxa 300T, my go anywhere Tudor 41 smiley face, the amazing Hanhart 417ES, the Tangente. Discounted watches I got in this price range include the Zenith Elite and Longines Spirit Chrono.

Do you have a price slot you find yourself looking at more often than not?

That’s my sweet spot combined with shopping preowned.

Always a bit wary of getting burned on pre owned, so probably wouldn’t spend that kind of money. Lunar Pilot was pre owned off eBay though, perfect condition and great bargain!

I’m the opposite. If I’m going to spend $1000 or more I look to the preowned market and ADs I have purchased from in the past. Sometimes there’s no choice but to buy new depending on timing. However, most of my collection is south of $1000 so I’m more comfortable with new in that range.

·

I’d say 3 to 5k is where I’m usually looking (often slightly used/pre-owned) which means that those watches might be 6 to 7k new. In almost all cases, for me, it never makes sense to buy new unless I want an experience . . . As in the next time I buy a limited Grand Seiko in Japan or if I ever find myself in Glashutte. Also want to qualify this since Iimit myself to a 6 watch box for the core pieces + 2 out that are under 1k.

·

I agree with your range

·

I usually look $1-2k but can be persuaded higher or lower for the right deal.

·

Beautiful watch. I'm right around there as well.

I think the $2k-$4k range has the greatest spread for me; I can get my grimey mitts on any watch that I'm interested in within that range.

·

Unfortunately, I find myself looking at $5-8, but I prefer $1500 and below. Mostly preowned or grey market. I think there are almost an infinite number of quality finds under that limit.

·

$1000 - $1500 would be my ideal no expectations but if I find a good looking watch, it makes my day kinda range. The only time it materialized is when I got the Sinn 556 MoP. Of late I’ve been wanting the sky dweller and I’m just kicking myself for wanting it😞

·

1-3k… above 3k it is a stretch for watches and my stomac starts to protest :)

·

I wish my happy place was $2-4k.. But as soon as I start looking in that bracket, the 4-6k bracket start being more appetizing. That said, the Sinn 556 A RS is a definite contender for my next watch if my Omega boutique can't pull through on my current plan.

·

$2500-6500 seems to cover most of it....

See that’s a bit of a wasteland for me. My interest (but not my wallet) kicks in again at about £7.5k UK, with things like the Speedy S/S, Santos ADLC and ND Sub (I wish). in my range there are any number, for example for a vintage vibe diver, I have a Doxa but there’s the Seawolf 53 Skin, Captain Cook, LLD……

Can’t go wrong with the Sinn, a modern classic!

Around that price, but never new. Just get more for your money buying used

Afraid I’m a sucker for new and shiny, and would probably hate dings and scratches on a watch that I didn’t put there. I am patient though, and have picked up most of my new watches at 25-33% off retail, and once notably 50% off.

·

2500-5000 USD.

·

I try and stay under £500 but would spend more for something special, but I tend to buy used to try and make that go further.

·

So much good stuff to find for around 1500€ 👍🏻

·

I can find just about anything I want from £200 to £1000. I'm very fickle and no one design holds my interest for long. Service costs of over £1000 don't appeal to me either.

·

Between 3k and 5k

·

4-10k for my watch box. Usually 1k and under for watch drawer.

·

£1k-£3k was initially where I’ve always found myself to be. The 3k mark being my high end at a push sort of area. However.. couple of vintage seiko beauties later which combined were around £350 I’m certainly considering watches sub £500 which in my opinion are fantastic looking pieces and great value for money. Spinnaker especially springs to mind

·

For me, anything less than $1000

·

Generally, it’s under $1000. Around there you can get Squale, Steinhart, Hamilton, Seiko Cocktail Presages, Tissot and the like. That said I have recently be lured to the under $2000 mark by Longines—just under.

·

I tend to look in the $1-4 thousand Cdn dollars. There are a ton of great watches at that price point, all over the world through Chrono24 or EBay. We don’t have the same buying power as our American friends to the south, but I don’t mind at all 😊

·

Less than 200 USD.

·

Just havent been able to commit to anything beyond 500 dollars ... its a financial, AND a mental block...

·

£1000-£2000 is where the value is for me. I have Sinnx2, Hanhartx2, Longinesx2, Oris, CW, Mido watches in that price range (some with discounts) and all have lovely finishing, decent fit and finish and are comfortable to wear. Also I’m fine to wear them to places where I’d be perhaps reluctant to wear a much more expensive watch. The most I could ever see myself spending is £2500.

·

The watch that I want dictates the price. But I will never pay more than RRP for anything such as Rolex Sub etc. but fortunately my last two purchases have been £1000 - £1800. But I do have a £3700 looming. My ceiling is 10. But it would have to be the 1. And as I know all too well, the 1 does not exist.

·

I try to stay between $300 & $500 for my come-and-go funsies pieces; watches I am just looking to experience but will likely move on quickly. If I am looking to add something to the collection for an extended period, I feel more comfortable going as high as $3k.
