Moonswatch madness!

The white Moonswatch just got released this week (at least here in Singapore) and its already sold out with scalpers queuing for hours just to turn in a quick profit. Not saying that it's a great watch but these scalpers ruin it for people who actually enjoy watches (yup, still waiting for my mission to mercury).

How bad is it where you guys stay? And would you get this release or one of the earlier ones at a premium?

I ended up buying one at a local mall a bit after the hype died here in the US. There was still about a 10 people line but not too bad…I wouldn’t pay over retail for it, that’s for sure.

Wait for 12 hours to make $430= $35.83 an hour minus the fees incurred by the sale. It’s probably closer to $25.00 an hour. I’d rather just go to work lol

No never,I was excited when I first heard about them, then I found out they were only being sold in London totally put me off knew what was coming, nonsense 🙄💰😂and so it was, total turn off let down, was only last week I actually handled one, glad I never got caught up in the hype because there not worth it,was going to grab me and my partner one,we ended up looking at the normal swatches 👍

I live in an area where the closest Swatch store is 4 1/2 drive away. So, waiting in line isn't really an option for me. I have three now (Pluto, Moon, and Mars) and didn't pay a premium for any of them. Just waited for a few months and found all of them while on vacation.

I enjoy them and glad I bought them. But I could not imagine paying a premium for any Swatch.

We only got one swatch store here, when the first MoonSwatch came out, they didn’t bring it, they brought them out a year later, they have this strategy of importing like 20 at a time and only telling people who ask when the next shipment is dropping, I lost interest really quickly, this is not a limited edition, so why does it feel like one

These people are nuttier than squirrel turds

·

3 stores here in Toronto, spoke to one Swatch store last week and they were not looking forward to the craziness... Doesn't make sense to me as they are not limited. Just wait and hopefully if you want one you can get one.

The only thing is for the ppl who are not near a store

·

As long as people keep desiring these plastic fantastics that are cosplaying as something they're not (pssst, you're not really getting an Omega), this kind of stuff won't end.

·

I swing by the Ottawa store in a few months and see what the story is then. It's a few minutes from my place, so it's no chore to pop in on occasion.

Exactly! It isn't supposed to be limited edition but they are creating hype by making it "while stocks last". Its quite a cheap trick by Swatch. Like i can just not buy this and save for a Speedmaster

I’d rather save for a speedmaster tbh, count me out, but hey if somebody can actually get one at retail without losing a tooth and an eye, good for them 😅

I have several MoonSwatches because they're fun and kind of interesting, but they're barely worth MSRP, let alone a premium on top of that. I'll pick up the Snoopy at some point because I think it's the coolest one yet, but it'll be at MSRP.

The store in San Francisco sold out within the first 2 hrs on Tuesday when it launched. Not sure how long the line was, but I’m assuming it wasnt as crazy as when the moonswatch was originally released.

The store says they don’t now when the next shipment will be, I have been calling every day 😂😂

·

No way I'd wait in a multi hour long line or pay over sticker for these watches. I'm not even sure I'm interested enough to pay full retail to be honest. Also helps there isn't a Swatch store nearby. It's unfortunate Swatch took their own hype so seriously.

I suspect if they actually made these watches easier to get and priced them more reasonably they could possibly sell at a volume that could make them even more money.

I'll wait...

I do not care for this watch and queuing up is not an option for me. However there is a part of me that enjoys seeing brick-and-mortar shops thrive and watches be popular.

·

I swore never ever to queue for a non limited edition anything. I have the entire set of moonswatches after learning that a little patience goes a long way. I didn’t bother to go near a swatch store when they launched the Blancpain x swatch or the snoopy. I can only guess that it must have been chaotic. When swatch limits one unit per person, Scalpers would just ‘employ’ a bus load of ‘customers’,and give them each some money to queue. Bah!

Between this and the Sea of Storms I'm content to wait until 2026 to even both, yes eventually I'd love to get both but it's simply not worth the hassle and absolutely not worth the money

·

And this surprises you how?

No problem where I am. No Swatch boutique within a 1000 miles so sort of moot. 😆
