What's Your Favourite Dial?

I am such a sucker for a white dial!

Wow congratulations! Model 3 for sure but whatever speaks to you in person.

That's what I'm moving towards. I have very few white dial watches & this one appears quite brilliant. It's also about £2,000 cheaper than the Aqua Model 3!

Were this Nov 23, I would have no qualms about buying the Aqua Model 3, I think it's a standout from the rest. Unfortunately December & January has seen me spend way too much on a Datejust & a Grand Seiko. I just can't justify spending what the Model 3 costs I'm afraid.

B for me, I was on the Anordain waiting list too, got an email from them last week but the earliest is now 2028 !!!!

I went with the red.

What if I cannot make up my mind? I like all four. I like white because of its simplicity and cleanliness. I like Green Fume because it reminds me of a grass meadow, where you want to just lay down on the grass and just enjoy being alive. I like the Blue Fume because it looks like the deep of the ocean that I can just look at for a long time. And I like the Aqua because it looks just like my pool. I want to jump into on a hot day.

So, my recommendation is to get all four.

That's possible perhaps, I really don't know what they'd say to this? I'm really unconvinced by the price of the Model 3. £4,200 for a no complication, Sellita movement watch is pushing the boundaries. If you want a decent storage case like the one below, the price goes up to £4,500!

The Ox blood dial is stunning also. As I have absolutely no shirts, tops, jumpers or whatever with red in them, it's not the one for me.

I'm a blue dial fan but an AnOrdain should have numerals, and their color is also a better fit on the green dial. So this was an easy one! 😎

The model 3, with the same dial as the Straum, did not exsist in 2018.. I think I saw first mention of this dial late last year. I recognize the enamel technique is more premium, but to me the Opphav is so similar. More than any GS.

That green is amazing. I received an email from AnOrdain to officially reserve a spot, but they are for 2028 currently. I think I will have my green dial Datejust by then…maybe.

I don't own an AnOrdain or a Straum. I have considered both though. I don't think the Model 3 looks that much like the Straum actually, I think the Straum looks better. But the early Model 2's with the bright fume dials were killer. As AnOrdain has matured as a brand and brought out more styles, I have liked them less and less. They simply haven't hit for me. But the Straum is a great looking watch. I was very close to pulling the trigger. Some days, I wish I had.

Straum, nice watches with beautiful dials, but stamped inexpensive painted dials. Not quite the same as hand made enamel. In terms of inspiration, enamel dials are almost as old as watches themselves.

I like the salmon.

Both are wonderful blues, but that Model 3 is the clear winner.

ok, so the Aqua blue looks like you are staring at the surface of a lake. The blue fume looks like you are looking up towards the surface of the ocean when you are diving. The green fume is a forest/grassy haven. That white dial feels like some old grandma's watch who collects china sets. Out of the 4, personally, I would pick the green because of the legibility and I believe there will be more light play due to the green/yellow fume contrast. Those 2 blue dials are going to be a bit hard to see the time when it is bright outside. Good luck!

I am seriously contemplating reserving a build slot for ‘29 and planning a trip for my wife and I to Scotland to pick it up in person. I love AnOrdain’s designs. It’s a tough choice just picking one.

Wait. There's a model 3?

Straum is striking and perhaps close enough . . . But Anordain is enamel and therefore that process/hand painting and high rejection rate when baking is showing in the cost.

Yep . . . And a recent interview suggested a moonphase may be in the works at some pt!
