The Watch of Indiana Jones?!?!

I follow the Hamilton watches account on instagram, and recently they revealed that this will be the watch worn by Harrison Ford in the upcoming movie.

Image

The funny thing is that its a quartz watch, and the movie is set in the 60’s before quartz movements came to be! 😂

I wonder if there will be a scene where some girl mistakes it for a rolex, and he corrects her all suave-like…

Anyway, who knows how Hamilton of all brands was able to swing for such a large portion of product placement! Being on the wrist of the main character is sure to be a spot of large competition.

Does it fit the iconic character of Indiana Jones?! Eh, maybe.

What do you guys think?!

Put it on a snake skin strap cause we know how he feels about snakes.

Whoops. Didnt see that someone already posted about this.

But good idea, that would be ironic!

·

I say he should have a field watch OR pilot watch….

·

The style of the watch suits the timeline, and back then people didn't think 200,000,000,000m WR was the base standard for a humid day.

·

Wow, I'd really been tempted to buy this if it were mechanical. There are other Boultons for sale in the Hamilton web site that are mechanical, but this one has Arabic numerals and looks like my father's old Elgin. Nothing against quartz, but seems to make more sense that this be mechanical hand-wind. And for $695! . . . As an Indiana Jones and Hamilton fan, I would have snatched it up, but can't justify paying that much for a quartz that may be anachronistic to a time period it purports to represent.

I'm a huge Indy fan, I have his hat, jacket, shoes, and bag as well, oh also a bullwhip, that being said...

I would give this watch a pass, it doesn't feel Indy what so ever

·

I think it's a great choice. Jones can't wear some huge dive watch because when the school bell rings, his wardrobe choices still have to make sense as a professor. He puts on the leather jacket and whip, but otherwise his clothes are interchangeable between his two personas. The Hamilton fits.

·

I think it’s a great choice and may push me over the edge on a watch I’ve been stalking for a while..

·

Remember Hamilton has done several collabs with Harrison Ford in the past, so I'd say that was where this relationship has come from. Great to finally have a proper Indiana Jones watch (I was watching Raiders on VHS in the early 80s and saw the rest at cinemas), but what a shame the movie is apparently a total turkey and it will probably be embarrassing to declare it an Indy watch to anyone after June this year.

·

I think aesthetically it's a good fit. It can swing between classroom Indy, to adventure Indy quite nicely. And suits the time period stylistically. It's always going to be anachronistic because it's a watch that didn't exist then. But yes, the quartz movement is going to rile people up. If it didn't have the small / running seconds it wouldn't bother me. So if it was more like a quartz Tank. It would look the part for a significantly lower price and no one would know the difference. I could pay that much for a quartz watch....but probably won't be going to in this instance.

·

Just fits Indy‘s style perfectly!

·

And because this keeps coming up, I'll toss in another quick post - the movie is set in 1969, the year quartz came out around December, if memory serves. So although the technology wouldn't have been out earlier that year - where the movie takes place - it's close enough to still be "a thing" within the same year. Not too bad. Only someone truly anal about the topic could have a real problem with the concept. It's not like they've given Indy a CD player in 1969 or something else that didn't actually exist for ages to come.

·

I think it looks great. And that it’s quartz from a guy who shoots 15 shots from a six shooter doesn’t bother me.

·

The muggles won’t know it from an elbow let along stand up in the cinema and declare in a loud authoritative voice “ That watch is out of context!!!!!! “ that won’t happen. 😂

Maybe if you hate snakes there could be construed a certain satisfaction in it being snake skin as it’s dead ☠️ 😂

·

Actually a great choice for Indiana Jones. Quartz is hassle-free. I like this gold tone and the white dial. Hamilton doesn’t make many gold cased watches anymore (other than two tone)

Image

O yeah you’re right, the timeline is set in 1969. That gets a big pass from me.

·

Interestingly enough, I had never heard of the boulton before yesterday. I ended up pulling the trigger on the silver dial small seconds with Roman Numerals

·

This watch is totally 🔥!

·

Huge fan of the character. As for the watch, I think it looks great but is niche and overpriced for what it is.

As to any comments about what Indy would or wouldn’t wear as a watch because the universe has to be logical… The guy wears a leather jacket and heavy felt hat while running around in tropical jungles and deserts. Smart fashion decisions aren’t exactly his thing.
