How many alpinists are there??

I tried the spb 177. Just amaizng. I dont know if i like it better than the green. It was so classy.

I did some research and there is so many color ways and models from different years. Why is there so many? What models the best value per dollar?do you like the classic green? Black? Or blue?

The Alpinist is currently the model with the longer history at Seiko and it's therefore natural that there are quite a lot of models bearing this name.

My own preference is the previous generation green SARB017. It's now overpriced on the second hand market so I would not recommend trying to buy one.

For me, there is only one……..

While I agree that the „real“ Alpinist is the SARB017, I was not willing to pay double of the price of a new Alpinist for a used one. So, I went for the green dial version SPB121.

However, am looking into the SPB117 or other dial colors from time to time and might pull the trigger on one of them somewhen.

I prefer the "no compass Alpinist" variation.

See my most recent post for a variety of Alpinists!

I have the Mountain Glacier, which I believe is the best colour option they made. I can't help feeling that the Alpinist is over priced for what it is though

They are all really nice, my favourite is the green 💚

Green is my favorite, but I love that shark tooth variant as well (based off the red alpinist from the 90s). The alpinist line goes back to the 60s I believe, the SARB models that the current prospex lines are based off of were around since the 2000s with the design language going back to the decade prior. There's tons of history which makes them so interesting.

After looking at the options I most liked the 1959 Alpinist Reinterpretation. I don’t care for the compass or the cyclops, and this model more closely resembles the original Alpinist.

Why are there so many colour options? have you met Seiko? They'll put out as man watches as they think the market can bear. Certainly no less! Always have, always will. It means there is something for everyone, but it is extremely confusing.

Technically not an Alpinist, but definitely shares many of the same design elements. My favorite.

Listen, these things are the best sub $1000 GADA watch money can buy, in my humble opinion.

Love my Alpy! Total GADA
