Finally the Casio Duro Marlin

I had recently put out a post on Watchcrunch on buying a new Sports / Diver watch. The Watchcrunch community responded passionately and it came down to Orient Kamasu or Mako and the Casio Duro. Given that Orient watches are not directly available in India (no physical store to go and check them) it would’ve been a big punt to buy something outside my budget without even trying it on. Casio on the other hand had many stores in India, however none of them kept the Duro in stock. I found a Duro at 20% lower than MSRP on Amazon and picked it up. It got delivered after almost 2 weeks (came from USA apparently!).

The watch is extremely well finished for its price. It feels sturdy (built like a tank), and is no nonsense. It also fits very nicely on my 7.5” wrist.

This is my first Diver watch, and probably my second sport watch (after the Seiko Sportura chronograph).

I would like to thank the Watchcrunch community for their stellar suggestions. Looking forward to more such guidance in my nascent watch journey 😊

Great choice. The red tipped seconds hand set it off. Cheers to you and the rest of WC!

Congrats!

The Duro is an excellent choice.

Now you need to put it on a proper rubber strap...Casio's strap is a bit meh...

Amazon has some great choices like the StrapsCo silicone rubber strap for $16...

Here is my blue Duro on the StrapsCo blue silicone rubber strap...super comfortable...

I agree the current rubber strap is a bit too basic and it’s causing my wrist to sweat in this tropical weather. Will check out these strap options, many thanks!

You made the right choice, albeit after we bombed you with posts about the Duro ;)

Try it on a good quality nato strap sometime (Bond black/grey works well); it looks great.

In fact, I even have an image of what it looks like :)

Can't go wrong with a Duro.

I cant see the watch— is it the right image?

Congratulations on obtaining a cracking little watch, dress it up with a jubilee or down sporty style with rubber it will wear fantastically well! 👏🏻👏🏻

Congrats, Sid! It is such a good watch. You could fool people it's worth $500 at least!! Great choice.

·

Congrats! I have the blue Duro and have a rotation of straps to boot.

·

Fantastic watch! These are so darn cool and so solidly built. I hope they don’t make this in 39mm any time soon. That would cause an existential watch crisis that I’m not ready to face.

Excellent choice

Congrats on a great choice...I love my Duro. 100% agree about the strap and choose to rotate thru a collection of NATO straps. A solid diver watch can tackle work in the yard, pool sessions, lake duty, dress up (or down), and IMO the best all-rounder behind a G-Shock (of course LOL)
