GS owners - are they too nice to wear for things for everyday use? Like work from home in sweatpants and T shirt everyday lol?

I’m on the fence about getting one. Curious your take. I only have a Vaer diver that goes with anything and a surprisingly versatile AnOrdain model 1 (def ok with T shirt and shorts). GS would be a step up on the shiny scale.

Currently thinking of a night birch, Rikka, or Mt Iwate GMT.

Am especially interested in hearing from GS owners.

Model 1 for those not familiar

Not about “rules” more about feel. I don’t want to feel odd wearing the “wrong watch” for my mood. Like I’d never wear a Breguet Classique around the house, just doesn’t feel right

I guess I don’t see it like that at all. To me there is no wrong watch or wrong way to wear a watch.

That’s fair - I guess I’m mainly interested if many people end up not wearing their GS much and regret getting one thinking they’d use it more, or whether they specifically got one with the intent of using it only for semi special occasions.

And I get that. I wore a Rolex laying on the couch, getting stuff from Home Depot, and all that. I figured I own it might as well wear it!

Sitting watching Ohio State/Maryland thinking about a trip to Taiwan and Japan in the spring with my GS high beat GMT watch. Left my White Birch in the kitchen after making a short espresso. Night Birch would be a very good choice.

They are very versatile, I think most here will say go for it. One would compliment the collection well.

How often do you wear your Rolex? Looking at your profile, seems you wear more casual stuff more often.

Very cool. The GMT def has a sportier more casual vibe.

Cool to hear about the birch wearing around the house too.

P.S. looking at your profile, very solid collection 🔥

Wearing my GS watches today, thinking about picking up a blue dial spring drive to finish off my GS experiment. Very versatile watches, can be additive.

I hear ya lol, esp about mixing it up with colors

My Vaer is navy blue, so I was leaning towards a black dial, but the only other watch I’m considering getting is a Speedy (black dial), and I think it’s very likely I’ll get a Speedy at some point…which also complicated things - does my eventual collection have two black dial watches(night birch), or a 2nd blue (Iwate GMT) or really mix it up with a Rikka lol. 1st world problems 😆

Lately I have been on a black watch kick. I love all the colours but when I was working grey was colourful for me. Thx for the compliment. I really just buy spur of the moment. Wife and I decided to renovate during covid so I put some watches in the bank for safe keeping, haven’t taken any out yet. Not crazy about my bank. Lol.

I have the Shunbun and wear it maybe once a week. But that's more to do with the fact I own too many watches!

Honestly if you have more than one watch you won't know what you gravitate towards until you have it in your watch box. It's almost like dating advice sometimes: "it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" haha.

@Mr.Dee.Bater and @Fieldwalker are daily GS wearers (I think). And they seem pretty happy with it.

·

Not a problem for me. In fact, i have changed watches during the day while at home.

·

All depends if your a scratch defender 😬🤣if so wouldn't get a 44gs case,if your not bothered about scratches you have nothing to worry about, for me there the best made watches bar none 👌

·

Since getting mine I’ve found I was wearing it all the time it was the perfect every day watch. It’s lovely to wear and to look at. I don’t wear it to work as I have a Sinn to cover that but I would and do wear it for any other occasion

Image
·

I would say some of their Elegance and Evolution 9, Masterpiece 3 handlers on leather are very dressy with their beautiful dials and I wouldn’t say they are for all occasions but most of their other models are sporty and could be used as a dailies.

·

Not a problem for me. My GS goes with everything so well.

I have the GS White Birch Spring Drive, which is a beautiful piece. Not as versatile as some of my collection, but that's mainly down to the way I choose to wear it. I tend to wear mine on a leather band.

Great piece nonetheless. Just beautiful the way the light catches the dial and the zaratsu polished case.

The pictures just don't do the dial and detail justice.

·

The ease of scratching is an issue for some. I include myself in that group. So I tend to not wear my Snowflake around the house or out and about if I know I might get a little tipsy in the pub etc.

Fieldwalker

Fieldwalker’s $0.02:

Go Ti

Go Heritage Line (100m, screw crown) or diver

..then:

Go kayaking, mountain biking, lap swimming, go hiking and scrambling, go extreme camping, go trail running … you get the idea! Then, after some great outdoor adventures, wear it to a nice dinner out!

Life is good 😌

You’re gonna love your GS so much, you will wear it everywhere. When I posted mine, I was wearing a hoodie walking my dog🐶😉

I would..I wear dress watches to death metal shows....😅

·

Definitely not. I wear my dressiest watch (Datejust 41 jubilee) with joggers/hoodie, T-shirt/jeans or swimming shorts in the garden all the time. Don’t over think it.

Image
·

Wore mine out to the ranch. I did take it off for some of the more intense work but kept it on for most the day. I struggled in the decision to wear it but decided I needed to jump in with this watch. Admittedly, this is a more sporty GS. I do find myself wearing this watch most days though. I have had in for 3 months.

Image

Also, this was my daily wearer for a few years. Plenty I dinks and scratches but it never lost its charm.

I have two GS’s for dress and two spring drive Seikos for knocking around. Problem solved.
