Okay, so not a watch technically but it does tell time. Here’s a late day treat for y’all. It’s my Wakmann 8 days aircraft clock. Its from an airplane cockpit. An old friend of mine gifted it to me. He is an airplane mechanic and also a watch collector.

That's amazing! Wakmann and Breitling had a deep relationship and a lot of these days both names on them 👍.
Let me know if your friend comes across another!
Now thats a conversation starter
I wonder where Bell & Ross got the idea for this? 🤔
Thats awesome, and since I work in aircraft parts I have been trying to source one for my desk at work. I also have my grandfathers watch, he was a pilot.

Gotta talk with the mechanics. And your grandfather's watch is stunning!

It sure is. Although not a lot of people notice it.

A lot of them broke and were trashed. I have feelers out with all my customers but they are expensive for one that's airworthy.

Yeah, some get pricey. Hopefully you'll get one soon. If I hear of anyone having one or I see one at a shop I'll let you know.
That is a proper tool, wow! Beautiful gift from your friend
That's awesome. I'd love to be able to find something like that.
I have an old Wakmann chrono that I picked up locally. Unfortunately it's a redial, which I didn't notice until after purchase.

Thanks. It's pretty neat. It's a fitting piece seeing as how I work in aerospace.

Thanks! That Wakmann is fantastic, even if it is a re-dial. It catches the light beautifully.
That Wakmann 8 Day Clock is awesome! Great desktop clock. Thanks for sharing that photo.
Some nice Wakmann's coming up on the thread as well - love that copper redial - looks fantastic.
One of my favorite vintage brands especially the early Breitling/Wakmann chronographs - the Regatta Yachting Chronograph is my favorite.
Here are a few that I've added to the collection:

Now that’s a fantastic Wakmann collection.
This was my dad's, mounted and given to him by his stepfather. The story is that it was from a Spitfire, I don't know if that is the case or not. Its a lovely thing to look after however.

That’s a great mount. If it was from a spitfire that would be really cool. It’s great that you’re looking after it. It truly is a special item.
Very cool. What a nice friend!

Thanks!
What mount design do you all think would be fitting for this clock? Let’s brainstorm.

Very nice. 👍😊 It could well be a Spitfire clock alright. That type were fitted to lots of British aircraft at the time. Usually on the back you'll find Air Ministry(A.M.) markings and a date.
I've this early 1970's French Dodane cockpit clock. It originally came from an Irish Air Corps Aerospatiale Alouette. It's in dire need of a service and the chronograph button is missing, but it still works and keeps good time. I believe the family owned Dodane company will service and restore these. They supplied clocks and wrist chronographs to the French military for decades.

That is a very cool clock. Will you be getting it repaired? It deserves to be brought to its former glory.

Excellent choice. That’s one to proudly display. 🍻
QVery nice piece to be proud of. I have a Waltham U.S. Navy 8 Day clock that was in my grandfathers plane during WWII. He was a Naval photographer and was shot down during the Battle of Midway and was 1 of only 2 to survive the crash. He removed the clock and his camera sight which I have on display.

That's an amazing story. Glad to know those items are well taken care of.

That's a proper aviation clock. Very nice.
So this one has been in my family forever, but was given to me by my grandparents as they prepare to sell their home in CT:
