Building a 10 watch versatile collection for my 5 inch wrist ๐Ÿ˜ณ !

Hi Guys

I have been collecting for a couple of years. Going for a balanced 10 watch collection. I am looking to add a dress, something bronze, and wild card spot happy to be daring.

Please let me know your thoughts on the collection ? And your advise of the 3 empty slots ?

Below is my shortlist up till now.

Cartier Solarbeat

Nomos Tetra

Unimatic x Massena Bronze

Nomos Ahoi

PANERAI Due Luna

Rolex OP 36 yellow dial

Thanks

All of those choices are solid, though might I suggest a diver if thatโ€™s your style?

I'm a fan of variety so really like your collection. Those are all lovely watches on your shortlist. You could also consider adding something vintage like a classically sized solid gold dress watch. They are plentiful and cheap - often under $300 for a 34mm.

Any diver suggestion for a small wrist? I think that is why I never landed on one because I am not sure they will look good on my wrist.

I canโ€™t afford any of these watches but hereโ€™s some ideas

5" wrist? Get something to eat before you buy another watch.

It looks like you have an impressive collection so far. I love that Franck Muller Crazy Hour Color Dreams. I have always considered that watch the best of Muller even against his master complication watch. The Omega, CW and Brew are also great. Not so long ago 35 mm was a pretty standard size in men's watches and there are many iconic watches that you can own at bargain prices if you don't mind pre-owned.

Patek Philippe Calatrava

18K Yellow Gold 33mm Champagne Manual Roman Watch $6993.00 on Chrono24

Tissot Seastar 36mm is worth a look. Top notch thermocompensated quartz movement which is petty much the peak of accuracy other than radio transmitter, internet or GPS-derived timing. 300m water resistance and Tissot build quality which I (sample of 1) have found excellent.

Nice collection, love the crazy hour.

Cartier or JLC Reverso. I gave my sister a solarbeat for her birthday, itโ€™s a cracking watch, 16 years between services so a good grab and go.

a good diver. Unimatics are cool Iโ€™m thinking of adding this one to my collection

How about a world timer from Fares? Currently sold out but I believe there will be others coming

Maybe Blancpain Bathyscaphe 38mm. It is a gorgeous watch.

Visually a diver with bezel looks smaller than its diameter suggests, especially so if dial is dark.

ยท

Maybe one of the Hamilton Ventura range for your wild card slot? Plenty of sizes and variants to choose from.

ยท

Farer also do some 36mm options. Maybe for your dress option.

Great diverse collection, especially the Bravur (to the uninitiated, a super cool Swedish micro with cycling ties) - not something you see every day! Totally agree with Farer for excellent size range, fantastic/fun color schemes, quality and valueโ€ฆ.happy hunting ๐Ÿค™โค๏ธ๐Ÿค™

Bruh, letโ€™s leave the watches aside for a second.

What does a 5-inch wrist look like anyways? ๐Ÿ‘€

And if it really is 5 inches Iโ€™d say stay away from Nomos, their large, empty dials and the, excuse the expression, godawful, uninspired lugs.

These are my slim thoughts.

I'm a 6", or slightly under - and run marathons/race bikes to keep my bony arms that crazy skinny.

So you must bike and run more than crazy me to keep that wrist so small. I wear bonkers big divers and any else thing I fall in love with, size be damned, unless the lugs hang way past wrist, then it's a non starter.

I'm guessing you've got quite flat wrists like myself, since the bones underneath dictate the shape.

From my experience, the main thing is to try on your fave's to make sure you don't get into lug to lug distance issues. Here's some large ass watches on my skinny ass wrist:

You would do well with a couple of vintage omegas, tudors, longines, gs or any. To act as the dress watch. A couple of them, steel and gold each with an elegant strap. Eg an omega constellation

Interesting- I need to see if I can get my hands on some to see if I like them.

Thanks - getting a lot of tips on going for smaller vintage dress. Love that Omega dial and strap combo

Thanks for the advise and options. Dude, I have a small frame and Pakistani genes - only way to explain it.

ยท

I would also suggest a diver. Maybe the new Baltic Aquascaphe in bronze

Great collection. It must be great fun to be figuring out what to add.

My suggestion would be to add an aviator to the mix. Maybe a Bremont

Nice collection so far, good variety!

Definitely something vintage!

With your wrist you are blessed in that a whole host of vintage watches become wearable that are really too small for others with larger wrists - specially in the 29mm to 35mm range.

I have seen dozens of excellent watches (often 25 jewels and upwards) from the 50s and 60s that are relatively inexpensive as demand for those smaller watches is so low.

So you can shop around for a great one and, with change to spare, even afford to have it serviced.

Ebel wears beautifully on smaller guys. Some of the slightly older stuff is very high quality but not expensive.

My recommendation would be a 1911 with the Girard Perregaux movement. Those are nominally 38mm but wear more like 35mm but have the updated bracelet. About 9mm thick. Same movement as in the GP Laureato at a fraction of the cost. Case and bracelet quality of that generation is comparable with a Laureato too. The older ones have a Longines/Lemania movement (now used by Breguet only) and are also good but have flimsier bracelets (edit: the onlder ones you can't size down far enough, stay clear). The newer ETAs are 40mm and wear like a 37mm watch (44mm lug to lug).

Image

Due to the proprietary strap stuff you really want the bracelet. Ebel straps are 500$ ...

if you want new, check the Glycine combat sub 36mm. comes in various colours but the black dial would be my pick. otherwise you can also look for vintage divers like a seamaster 300 midsize.

I agree adding a diver into your collection would be mint.

the other 2 slots, my suggestion would be

1. Rolex OP 34mm

2. Longines master collection 34mm (with moonphase)

Or Casio A500 world timer
