My small Credor collection

After posting several Credor watches I promised a post with more context and introduction to this brand over a year ago. I know, sorry...

Outside of Japan, Credor is not very well known. And maybe, I am guessing here, but I even think inside of Japan it's not a household name (please correct me if I am wrong).

Credor is basically the answer of Seiko to enter the more luxury end of the market after the quartz crisis.

I was pointed to the brand by Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, the managing director of Fears Watches. He pointed out the quality and finishing of these 1980's models and how they are very affordable and available.

Now, I have a profound love for simple three handers from the 70-ties and 80-ties and since I can't afford Patek Philippe Eclipse's or other models (there is a similarity here), these were immediately speaking to me. So on to Ebay and Chrono24 and the rest is history.

Like all vintage watches, there were some challenges. Some bracelets only can be shortened by cutting the band and that is irreversible. That resulted in a band that is now slightly too short, despite the careful measuring. And there were other difficulties, but in the end; if it all goes terribly wrong, all you've spend is a few hundred euro's and you can take your losses.

The small size of the watches is perfect for my 16,5 cm wrist and they are ultra thin, making them ideal for more dressed up occasions.

You can find the old catalogues here.

They still make some insanely beautiful watches, look at the official website here (Japanese only).

When people say luxury watch, I think of things like this, not some clunky tool watch. These look refined and costly.

A gorgeous selection you've got, not my style I must admit but I would wear that hexagonal one and on that strap 😍stunning.

·

Thanks for that post. I was completely unaware of them. Some are to my taste and others not, but hey what else is new. Some cracking designs and great to read about your passion for this brand. 👍🏻

Love this! I've been looking at getting a square/rectangle vintage Credor lately. Thanks for posting wristshots as well!

·

Nice watches. As vintage decades shift this 80's - 2000's era of watches will be great to hold and wear. Nice set!

·

I own two as well! Pictures do not do them justice!! They are very fine watches one needs to see in person!

·

Loved seeing your small Credor collection, and thank you. You've done well. Maybe it can become a large Credor collection, that would mean you're doing really well.

Curious, how did you get into Credor? Any ties to Japan or was it the internet that lead you into a beautiful rabbit hole?

It was a mix of Podcasts, YouTube and greed... 😉
