Disregarding the watch itself. Name 3 models that you dont like its NAME or think that the name doesnt match or just diminish the watch. For me:
F-91W - For such an iconic piece, I'd love if it actually had a name, not just a reference number.
Tangente - That name just make me cringe, dont know why.
Tank - I do love that name, but I dont think that it really suits one of the classiest pieces ever made.

Audemars Piguet (Re)master 01
Zenith El Primero
Tudor Royal
I'll probably be editing this all day.
Nodus. sounds like a national defense acronym or some gooey invertebrate
Zelos. Another contestant in the Rolex constonant-vowel arrangement nonsense word scheme. Is it a Greek God? What do it mean?
BOLDR. ugh, cutesy spelling like a valley girl. Why make it sound like a stock ticker abbreviation?
I know I know!! The UG โFerrovie dello statoโ. Apparently, an homage to the Italian train system. Cant think of a worse pairing, a tool to keep time and โฆ wellโฆ Italian trains!โฆ
EDIT: and JLC. Cant deal with JLC. ๐

Thata the exact kind of answer I was looking for. And I agree.

True, el primero makes me think of an old western movie

Totally

Me too

I can't be the only one that thinks Black Bay sounds too much like something else if you make one A into an O. Formex sounds like a prophylactic brand or a chemical company.
I used to live near Boston, MA and thereโs a part of the city called Back Bay which has me tripping and stumbling whenever I say Tudor Black Bay. Back Blay? Black Blay? What?
Speedmaster, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe called, they want their watch back.
Reverso, C-List Batman villian, interesting trivia fact: Monoface is his sidekick.
Scuba Fifty Fathoms. Should be the Schwifty Fathoms, and tied into the Rick and Morty-verse via an ad on interdimensional cable.
I'll probably be editing this all day.

Nodus definitely makes sense, never thought about Zelos that way, but I like the way it rolls of the tongue. I like BOLDR but this is a funny take on it, gj
Longines Hydroconquest. Seems forced.
Listen -- strange fairies hanging out in Cheapside all day distributing branding advice is no basis for product management. Supreme consumer demand derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical lackadaisical park ride.
And yet.., here we are. Rolex make up 29% of the Swiss Watch market. I guess sometimes the supernatural is all you need to get that edge over your competitors (amongst over thingsโฆ).
Well that is clearly not the same as you stated "Maen is Dutch for moon".
the word maen does not exist in Dutch.....it might have been like that in the Middle Ages in the language "Middelnederlands" that existed from 1200 to 1500...but the whole language was different 500 years ago.
So, not moon? Ok.
Maen means โnothing to do with the Moonโ in Dutch.
Iโm glad we cleared this up.
Speedmaster - they have gone so far with marketing that it should just be called the moonwatch. It has no ties or association to speed and racing anymore that I cringe when I hear Speedmaster, Daytona has the 24HRsโฆ.
To no fault of their own or the language, but most Grand Seikos because I try to pronounce them and end up butchering a name
Studio Underdog pink lemonade, feels like my child named it and not in a fun way
I actually think it's the opposite with the f91w. It's a mouthful, but it's so classic no one dares give it a nickname
F91w is a UB40 cover band using only speak and spells and an otomatone

Someone did not get the liberally rewritten monty python reference XD

Oh someone did, but also facetiously suggested that the reason for Rolex continued success might also be otherworldlyโฆ
Christopher Ward has the Sealander. Omega has the Aqua Terra. They are both aiming at the same meaning. Except, I am old enough to know what Sealand is (Google the Principality of Sealand for some 1960's style protesting fun). Sealander is not a good name.

I suppose itโs better than Dirt Water, or Mud Puddle
Zenith Defy. Love the watch/collection but the name reads EXTREME.
Actually, I donโt like Vacheron Constantine, or Audemars Piguet, as names to be on a dial. Not that I ever will, but if I were to consider owning either the names on the dials would be a point of contention for me.

Boldr reminds me of when websites were being named like Flickr.com and tumblr.com in the mid 2000s.
Not a model, a brand, Formex sounds odd.
Formex always makes me think of Fromex one hour photo.
Iโve always disliked โAqua Terraโ - with the whole โSurf/Turfโ association, it makes me think of a cheap attempt at elegance.
Nodus brand ethos or meaning: means Intersection in latin. https://www.newlabelsonly.com/2020/06/09/a-moment-with-nodus-watches-founder/
Unfortunately, there aren't that many people that speak or understand Latin these days.
