The best watch ever made? F91W Review

I finally did it and wrote my first review, it is always the same concept. So, let’s get to it!

Price: 5-20€
Backstory
This watch first appeared in my life during my childhood, my mother brought two of them from the local discounter. It was my first real watch ever and although it is only splash resistant I also took it swimming in a pool, not knowing what water resistance was and it survived. Years later I had a little fire incident with it, burning the glass a bit and so the watch which you see here is the second one, I bought back in 2019.
Purchase
So, the first one was a gift from my mother and the second one I bought back in 2019 on vacation in a small, lovely town called Bad Elster for 15 bucks in a local store. Not the best service I ever had but also not the worst.
Core Memories
Most of them are childhood memories and of course, the first ever feeling of owning a watch. Swimming with a water-resistant watch, even if it was not water-resistant, it survived anyway. There are also some great memories from work nowadays.
Purpose
At the moment it’s my watch for work, especially for the front office. It is decent, doesn´t bother anyone and it simply fits in for the role of a service person, invisible, but great while doing the job perfectly. As a bonus, it isn’t too bad if it gets a few scratches.
Conclusion
I adore this watch and can recommend it above all else. It is a bargain little masterpiece and I will always keep one of them in my collection.
Recommendation
I recommend this watch to everybody, who wants a little reliable timeless classic that has already established a big cult and is incredible for the small price you pay.
It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a set-it-and-forget watch for your job or searching for a gift for another watch nerd or want a first watch for the small ones around …. This watch does it all.

What a waste of an F-91W!
What a great review, love how you’ve woven all your experiences over many years with what can only be described as a classic - and current - watch. Lovely job.
Something so popular often has a darker side and the F91-W is no exception. It does have a little more controversial past. Osama Bin Laden was famously photographed shooting a Kalashnikov rifle while wearing a F91-W. They were also a cheap and popular choice as a timing mechanism for Improvised Explosive Devices during wars in the Middle East. Hence their nickname as "terrorist watches" amongst some circles.
I actually disagree. The F105w is the better F91w in my opinion. It costs just a hand full of bucks more, but has a fully illuminated display

Very cool. But I would add that maybe not recommended to wear if your wrist is over 7.4”. These look comical on me 😂

Omg I’ve lived my life believing that my 20 years old F91W is waterproof. It went to over 10+ swimming sessions with me. 😅 and it survived til today, Now that’s what I call the world’s greatest watch.

The best watch. Everyone has a different definition of what makes the best watch, but for most people, this one is hard to argue. I'm really loving the more modern iterations it also.

I just got rekindled with this watch as this was the watch for many of us in Asia when we were schooling and I made a leather strap for it, slightly wider than stock plastic strap so it looks slightly beefier.
