Seagull, as well as any other Chinese watch IMHO is a donation to CCP and a bad decision. From historical perspective, Seagull is a clone and a further Chinese “development” of an old soviet “чайка” calibers. As with the downfall of Soviet Union China simply purchased all the IP and technological equipment of some soviet watchmakers. And on the other hand, all soviet watch making industry is based on war trophies from Germany. For example, Soviets took entire Glasshutte manufacture as a war trophy after WW2. And based all their calibers and watch industry on old German calibers from 20’s and 30’s. So, buying a seagull you are investing both in communist party of china and in a 100 years old stolen German tech. Degraded to the level of mass production in China. I personally consider both as unethical and absolute waste of money.

That’s actually not accurate, these were the “Russian-Chinese split” days of the 60s

So Seagull bought the whole IP and machinery from the Swiss Venus

A calibre that used to powers BREITLING and such

And you can say that about almost anything and everything made in China 🤷🏼‍♂️
