I'm fine...thank you.

I don't do this...but I feel it.

Happens all the time😅

🤣 I work in retail, & first rule is know your products! Amazed how many "salesmen" don't 🤯🤣

·

Walks by Tissot at Macys one time “Sir, You’d love the PRX”

·

Feel ya on this one 😂.

Same thing when perusing Academy/Cabela's/Sporting Goods firearms counters 😂😆.

·

Depends on the jewelry store. I wouldn't underestimate. Have had some really great experiences with a few jewelers at malls who were really knowledgeable. In my area Reeds is one place I would recommend.

·

This is sooooo true

You've got to be right on your game when dealing with a watch geek looking at their grail. They probably know the name and address of the guys on the QC line on different days. 😂

Yeah, I'd so love that job 😁👍🏻

What's not to miss?

Just because we're nerds doesn't mean everyone else should be.... But they should

·

Facts 😂😂

·

Same for me at the auto parts store.

The know-nothings behind the counter think a VIN number is be all and end of fitment. It's not.

·

Imagine a virtual store powered by Reddit and it was only for audiophiles, watch collectors, and coffee enthusiasts. I think I'd suck-start a shotgun after being in there for 15 minutes...🤣

·

Sales associates have told me more than once that I should be on the other side of the counter. I always go no no no, I’m just a hobbiest.

Not even just mall jewelers! Been to a few higher end watch shops lately (tudor, cartier, etc.) and have found I know way more about the products than the staff. Then I stop and wonder if the problem is with me 🙃

Been there, done that. 🤪

·

Me at autozone on the rare occasion that I’m in there lol

·

I felt this way on a cruise that was selling rolex, iwc and tag.

·

The Sydney Tudor Boutique, shout out to Shirley who knew her products and was genuinely knowledgeable about her Brand and other watches also ! She was genuinely interested in my Nivada Superantarctica. I was trained in body language and hers didn’t contradict her narrative and inflection.

Yeah I don't go to Cabela's for "expert" opinion lol. I go there to hold something I want 🤤

Some days ago I went to the mall, saw a big bulova logo in a shop, entered and wanted to see a devil diver. I'm there in front of the watches but no devil divers. Was going out and the saleswoman asked me if I was searching for something... "I was looking for an oceanographer by Bulova". She looked into the watches, doesn't see it (duh 😅) and told me:"we still don't have it, must be really new" ... WTF

·

I love when I casually browse an entry level kiosk and chat them up about mall watches and when they ask what you're wearing you reveal something nicer than anything in the display case and their face just sinks. The best is when they're clearly wearing a "loaner work watch" because they don't actually wear a watch. Nine times out of ten it's something that doesn't sell so they have plenty on hand. I'd love to believe the 22 year old dude with a nose ring wears a Casio ediface chronograph with red accents.

·

I spew out model numbers they’re not even aware of but would be on their counter 😅

·

Remind me to never go watch shopping with any of you

·

I actually view it as a friendly teaching opportunity. Not snarky. I’ve gotten a lot of “thank you!” moments. The more you know. 🙌

I have a super antarctic as well, the early version with 200m WR and small crown. The staff at Sydney Tudor were equally intrigued in my Aquastar Deepstar 2 in grey sunburst dial . not something you see walking in the door everyday.
