Timegrapher

Has anyone here tried one of these timegraphers that hook up to your computer or tablet? They are about a 3rd the cost of the ones that have a built in screen and the separate watch stand/holder.

I saw this one on Amazon, but you can find them on eBay and Walmart.com.

I've never seen this before, and I am interested in how well they work. If you get one, be sure to come back and give us a review.

IT WORKS!✅I bought one a few weeks ago after reading some good feedbacks about it. It's basically a boosted microphone with a clamp for the watch case that capture the movement work. The little box can be connected by its USB cable to a computer, a tablet or even to a android/iPhone smartphone.

I tried mine connected to my iPhone and using the apps "Timegrapher" and "Tosca" (free).

I have compare both results also with a Weishi No.1000 and the results were pretty much the same in all of them.

As I understand, what makes the Weishi device x4-x5 times the price of this one is that you are buying also the software plus a (low resolution) screen, but I think the microphone (watch holder) part is very very similar in both devices. You are just taking advantage of your smartphone screen / software capability in the cheap option...

I've attached pic of the two apps I use (for IOS), I know there are others for android, the computer software came in a USB drive included in my unit.

I now use it to keep good control of all my mechanicals 👌🏼

Great! Another toy I need to buy. Lol

·

It's coming in today, but it seems like it would work pretty well! It's just a very focus microphone worth a stand that's very helpful for regulating

·

I bought a timegrapher. And now wish I didn't...

·

What is the brand name of the device? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks for this! I was looking at these along with a standard timegrapher on AliX. I was on the fence. The price is right on these for sure.

I like the idea of the dedicated machine, but if the results are similar, I'll consider these more closely.

Do they require their own power supply, or do they power through the USB to your phone?

I don't know about all of them, but the one I just ordered on Amazon is powered by the USB cable. So, on one like this, it would be good to make sure your phone has a full charge to power the device. I'll be using my tablet mostly, so I'll need to do the same with it.

Does it still have the same basic functionality as the dedicated machine? Still estimates amplitude, beat error and lift angle?

Yes sir, those are all based on the software. The software that comes with this one shows that it has all of the info needed by a watch maker.

This is the one I ordered: WSDMAVIS 1Pcs Watch Timegrapher They had one in a local warehouse and said that it could be delivered tomorrow. As of right now there are only 3 left in the Amazon system.

I own one, the software is a tad jank but it works fine. It’s certainly nothing fancy and it can be hard to measure in all the positions you may want. It’s sold on aliexpress for like half the price of amazon

What is the actual name and model number?

·

I just ordered this! I have been using the timegrapher app with just the microphone so this should be just the ticket.

This is the one I bought

WSDMAVIS 1Pcs Watch Timegrapher TGBC Meter Calibrator Tester Acoustic Display Mechanical Watch Calibration Tool for Desktops Laptops Mobile Phone https://a.co/d/8oufBrR

This is the one in the picture

MOOKEENONE Watch Movement Timegrapher, USB Cable for Watch, Watch Movement Tester Machine Gear for PC Desktops Tablets https://a.co/d/2FL5uxu

But, like someone mentioned above, you can get them cheaper on AliExpress. I'm just not comfortable buying on that site.

I got it for literally 10€ (free 5 days shipping) on Aliexpress.

Do you know of it will work with a Mac?

·

I have been using it for over a year. It works pretty well. The only problem is if you want to test in different positions, you need to play games with moving it so it stays in the desired position.

As far as I know the software included only works with Windows. But keep in mind that is just a freebie included, this device works with many other softwares, so I'm pretty there must be other timegrapher softwares for mac that will make use of it.

Anyways, you can still use it directly with your Android / Apple smartphone or tablet with the apps I mentioned above.

For me that's a lot quicker and more convenient, and the results will be the same 👍🏼.

Hope it helps!

Yes it’s pretty decent

I just recently installed an app called Timegrapher on my Android phone and it's pretty much as accurate as my dedicated Timegrapher hardware. Search 'Timegrapher' in the Play Store or Apples App Store. The one I've got is called "Timegrapher" and has an orange icon with a pallet fork icon on it.
