Calendar day 15 of 24 ๐ A racing icon that was among the first to cross the finish line in the race of The First Automatic Chronograph. Inseparable from Steve McQueen after it co-starred with him on the big screen. One of the most famous square/rectangular timepieces.
Is this a case of masculine beauty or just an ugly duckling? Legendary influence or shallow marketing?
This wins as the watch I've been aware of trading on some alleged heritage the longest. I seriously think it's been at least 30 years since I was first aware of this being hawked as some retro fashion with that supposed racing history.
Massive kudos to the OP for his succinct assessments. Shallow marketing of an ugly duckling it is.ย
One of the most recognisable watches on the planet, not the most popular, and certainly not everyone's cup of tea. But with its links to a legendary actor, and its unique look, its got to be a legend.ย
I voted legendary because itโs the best square/rectangular case (alongside the Reverso, sorry Tank/Santos). Factor in racing & Steve McQueen nothing is cooler.ย

I donโt like any option listed. Classic but not for me. I so prefer their more traditionally shaped offerings.
For me it's another classic watch that I really don't want ๐

Classic watch, but not legendary. TAG marketed this to the nines. I'm going to go with @OscarKlosoff on this one.ย

It took extra long to awaken after I got up this morning ๐ I think that was the reason for all the typos.
I agree with you on this one โบ๏ธ
Steve McQueen was the King of Cool since my childhood and this warch is synonymous with him. Therefore legenday in my eyes.
I'm a TAG fan in many cases, however not in this case. It's probably my least favourite watch they make, it's just so ugly.ย
Some clever or lucky marketing and it is synonymous with the 60'sand 70's racing scene. Just not my cup of tea.

Iโm with the classic but donโt want it group. ย I canโt argue against its heritage. ย But Iโll never spend the money on one.
