Small watches? 100kg and 37mm -> That is just perfect.

The trend is clear. We're going back to the times where wrist watches had a more classic size.

I have watches in my collection that is 42mm and I love them, but sometimes it's quite nice to put on a more classic size wrist watch.

The Grand Seiko SBGW231 is 37,3mm and wearing it with a T-shirt and weighing 100kg makes it stand out more than it should - in a positive manner that is.

Do YOU wear a wrist watch what is considered "a small watch"?

I have watches that are mostly 40mm plus. Like you I'm a bigger guy and to me the ratio of watch to wrist goes out if I go below I think about 38mm.However I have a Casio A163 that's smaller but im not convince I get away with it.

Looks spot on! I’ve watches from 38mm to 45mm. I have a 7.5 - 8inch wrist, and spent most of my adult life at 90- 110kg (although I’m currently c.80kg). As a bigger guy, it’s tempting to think you should gravitate to bigger watches. But we’re lucky, we get the choice and can play with a much wider range. I don’t quite have the style creds to go below 36mm, but I know guys that can and do.

·

My last few watch purchases have been the 37-40mm range. I have an 8inch wrist and have come around to smaller diameter cases. A bunch of watches in my collection are 40-43mm and I enjoy those watches too.

·

6’4”, 100kg, and I quite regularly wear 36mm and smaller

Looking good. I’m considering getting a 34mm

·

I own nothing bigger than 39mm.

·

I consider below 36 mm small, but I have a relatively small wrist (6.3”) as well.

Small watches are just such a different wear experience that it is really fun to change the usual larger pieces for a small one from time to time. It makes me very happy to wear my vintage 33 mm quartz lightweight piece because the day feels a bit different, a bit special.

That GS is a beautiful watch and super comfortable on the wrist. Was close to buying it but, really want a Spring Drive (I kind of also want a manual wind but not as much). I also didn’t like the “splash resistance” rating.

Then the SBGY011 is your GS. Manual wind. Spring Drive. 100m WR. 10,5mm thin. PR on the back. Classic GS design. The SBGP005 bracelet in SS fits 100%.

90% of my watches are “small” watches. I also have an SBGW231 and I only have two watches larger than that one.

Aahh. A bit (maybe more) above my price range unfortunately.

In my collection, the SBW231 in 37mm and my Cartier Santos in 35mm and the SKX013 in 37mm are all the small watch collection. The rest of the 25+ watches are all between 39mm to 42mm.

·

My smallest watch but damn, I love it equally to any of my 42mm’s 🤙

I agree, and own a variety. I’m going to have to go to the dye for the 100 kilo part, though.

·

Looks great!

·

My BB 54 / 7 inch wrist.

It wears so good!

I have an 8.25” wrist and own and wear watches in the 40 to 43 mm range.

·

Oh, and I also blame the small watch movement because of high profile Youtube influencers with smaller wrists🤣

·

I have a 7.5 wrist, and have developed a real preference for classically sized watches. I have a couple of larger dive watches which are great, but I definitely favor 36mm and smaller. I think I have been aided and abetted in this by starting to collect vintage watches. I have a Bulova from 1956 that is 30mm and I love it. I'm also 5'3", so I have come to feel that larger watches make me look like I am a kid trying to wear his father's suit. Ultimately, I think you should wear what you like. As Bette Midler famously said, "F**k 'em if they can't take a joke!"

·

I don’t wear a smaller watch but I can definitely see the appeal. That watch looks solid on you.

·

The older I've gotten, the smaller my watches are getting. I have a 37mm vario trench watch that's near my top favorite watch currently! The GS looks great and the perfect size on you!

36 is my daily. But I also wear 41mm 😊 Aaand I am waiting for a vintage G-Shock Frogman in the mail and that one is 50mm 😅 But that does stop me from flirting with the idea of a 34mm. I'm just about 0,1 kilotons myself.

·

Hope you mean 100g.

·

The smallest watch I enjoy wearing is the Glycine Combat Sub 36mm.

38 mm GS SBGF021 with a thick bezel that gives me 36 mm feelings. I feel like it wears visually like the explorer 36 I owned. I have 6,75 in wrist. I’m now flirting with a vintage KS 37 mm.

On the other end of the spectrum I own a 41 mm Navi.

Love them both!

Was the moon phase photoshopped onto it? I‘m not aware of any SD-powered GS with one.

Yes, I PS'd it. The rest is OG though.

Got it. I‘d buy that one in a heartbeat 🙂

I find that the 36-40mm range is fine. Any bigger looks daft. Smaller ones I can get away with if they're very traditional, and not gold, otherwise they can look a bit feminine.
